RE: Politics

I'm watching the South Carolina Republic debate right now and I have some comments

First of all with the things I've seen with Ron Paul in this debate and everywhere else I've researched him, he is a fantastic candidate and I would elect him in a heartbeat, it's a damn shame that he won't get the republican nomination when he himself is the most conservative one there, like I said before it always seems like the least "viable" candidates are the best ones, I stand by that still. Ron Paul is fantastically about hands off kind of government and to me that is great, it's exactly how government should act in my opinion. It's also a shame how he has been treated, i.e. not being invited to debates etc. And even in this debate that I'm watching right now....He's been attacked twice by Romney and once even by Huckabee which really pissed me off because I expect things like that from Romney but I thought Huckabee was above such things he really let me down when he did that, and a bunch by McCain too....

Romney attacked Ron Paul once because Ron Paul was the only one who even mentioned that the navy tape of the near conflict with Iran might be a fake, everyone else just regurgetated the same damn answer " yea well I support what the naval officers did blah blah blah" of course you'll say that, they didn't even mention the possibility that it might have not been Iranians even when the Navy has said that "Voices on (the) Recording May Not Have Been From Iranian Speedboats
Chilling Threat Could Have Come From the Shore or Another Ship", Ron Paul actually stood against them and said he'd have to investigate further before determining what to do and Romney attacked him saying he's been reading Ahmadinejad's briefings too much, just ridiculous and uncalled for I literally stood up and shouted Fuck You Romney at my tv. Another time Romney attacked Ron Paul was on his immigration policy, guess who didn't get to respond to the immigration question? Ron Paul, just stupid how he's being treated whether it be the party itself or Fox News, just give him an equal shot because he's making the most sense I'm heard in a long time and standing up for things that need to be said and no one else will say them, it's like no one is interested in the truth, I feel like going Mr. Smith Goes To Washington on everyone....But I won't I'll resist the urgeSad

RE: Politics

I wish we had a socialism/ACTUAL democracy. Its not the ones with the skills that get elected, its the ones with the best PR advisors and deep wallets.

A lot of people I go to school with think that the war in Iraq is over oil and constantly spout their suppossed sarcasm 'since we took them over, why are prices going up?!?' when the answer is not that simplistic. Since WWI when we devivded the middle east into its respective districts we have been orchestrating international affairs ever since. WE put the shaw (Iran) in power when the old leader was getting angry that the british were ripping him off for oil, the British complain to the U.S. and we call the current leader a communist and invade. Then WE put SADDAM in power and help him fight off Iran. Then he invades kuwait and threatens american oil reserves in suadi arabia, forcing us to gently tell him off...lol. Bush then used 9/11 as an excuse to invade again and finish his fathers job.

This isnt about oil, its about keeping a political foothold in the middle east for america. The U.S is trying to uphold its image of the world's police power. When their is a problem we invade. That's how it has been and how it will be. I would love for someone like Hilary or Obama to win, but McCain is the classic white/christian/male that has ruled the U.S. since its inception. (we have NEVER had a president that was neither a republican or democrat, they dominate the arena and work together to force any contenders out).

the government has safegaurds to protect certain military programs like the B-2 bomber program. They have a peice of the plane built in every state so that if the senate tries to vote it out (its extremely expensive...like a few billion for a single plane...not to mention matenaince) they would lose jobs in their respective districts and lose votes for the hundreds of workers and their families put out of work, so in fear for their jobs senators can only sit back while the government spends nearly half its budget on the military.

I study history and politics and while this is bad I envy the work that went into its planning and hiding from the general public, this has been happening to the country since WW2, Eisenhower himself gave a warning as he was leaving the white house about the military industrial complex that was weeding its way into politics (corporations that make weapons influencing those in government that decide to buy weapons/go to war)

I dont really care who wins, though we will never leave the middle east, we are currently building 14 PERMANANT military bases for U.S. troops.....wonderful. Any candidate that says they will withdraw troops is lying/not saying how many will really leave, which wont be many. (if you want to know more just pm me, I got a ton or random facts that will make you scared/angry at the government ^^ lol)

RE: Politics

I really hope either Hilary or Obama win as well

Liberals Rock!

thats some interesting stuff Fulgrim

ya it might be good if we got American bases out of the middle east they don't like our prescence there. I think we're afraid that without American Milatary prescence groups like Al-Qeada, would grow and continue attacks. But we really don't have anykind of bussiness being there

The main origin of the problem i think in the middle east is the whole Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I really don't know a whole lot about it except what I skimmed on the wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli-Pal...n_conflict

They both want claim to Israel,

The Milatary win of Hamas called upon Muslims to attack American targets. because America is offering political, financial and logistic cover for the Zionist occupation crimes, and it is responsible for the Beit Hanoun massacre. Therefore, the people and the nation all over the globe are required to teach the American enemy tough lessons,"

From what I've read the hamas is a pretty antisemtic, I think jihad or holy war is just the worst kind of war possible because of all the predjuduce for groups of certain people.

I really hope things can get worked out peacefully.

What do you guys think about all this?

I know this could be a touchy subject so I mean no offense to anyone for bringing it up, i just want to understand what is going on better. What can compell people to take their lives and innocent civilains around them. To the extremists they consider Isreal a complete military zone and that compromises the lives of civilains there

sweet raptured light, it ends here tonight

RE: Politics

The problem with this poll is the US is supposed to be democratic capitalism. Personally I think we are moving to facist capitalism. Talk about a nightmare.

What I mean is like one is a society philosophy and the other is an economic system. You have them all mixed up.

RE: Politics

whatever we claim to be we sure as hell arent behind the scenes lol. The government is influenced by big businesses and as long as they can make war profitable (for them) the U.S. will be in a constant struggle to make it appear right to use those shiny new weapons.

this isnt exactly U.S. politics but Russia is engaged in a gurilla war against the Chenchen region and has been for several years. The government has silenced freedom of the press and censored much of what is going on there. They might not be communist anymore, but they havent lost their corrupt roots. Hopefully America isnt falling down a similar path. Just because they can justify a war doesnt mean we should go along with it.

I doubt the next president, whether it be Hilary or Obama or McCain, would change anything about our corrupt government. The system has had too long to integrate itself in the government and almost all of them have some part in it (cheney's net worth went from close to $1million a few years before his Haliburton connection and if you check it now he is worth something like $80million.....thats not from selling lemonade on the white house lawn)

RE: Politics

The thing is to me, this war isn't even about controling the middle east so much as it is about cutting the constitution up into even smaller pieces. So many Bills that Bushy has allowed put into law are just deranged. I pray McCain doesn't get into office. The guy has no soul.

RE: Politics

which is exactly why the republicans chose him. He is everything they stand for (fighting for whats 'right' not standing down to others, corruption...). Bush is helping the next president since almost everything he has passed he made a notation so that the president doesnt have to follow it if he doesnt want to....like a backdoor to the constitution. Bush himself isnt evil, its those that put him in power/move behind the scenes that want America as the next roman empire.

RE: Politics

McCain treads dangerously closely in the footsteps of Hitler. Just like good old Bushy. The republican party is actually split between two ideals lately. They used to stand for the constitution, but now are a split between conservatives (which no longer stands for smaller government at all anymore, they just move funding elsewhere and don't actually lower taxes at all they get funded through different taxes then direct income taxes) and actual outright facism (despotism, dictatorship) . Read up on facism... There is a reason they are dismantling the constitution. They are also outright stripping powers from the house and senate. The republican part is actually dismantling our democracy (well a part of it is) .

RE: Politics

I'm a Republican, and I really, really do not like McCain. To be honest, I hate all politicians. I'm writing in my candidate. Who cares if it doesn't count- I'm exercising my rights, dammit!
