To any and all, how often do try you pursue somekind of novelty. I find security in a somewhat obsessive habit of doing the same thing every week. I suppose we should all have a bucket list, even if it is something small, to jiggle perspective.

I'd say I've an anxiety/depression problem. My mind turns the smallest things into a mountain of garbage. If I go swimming I have to leave my phone somewhere secure but I'm kind of on call for my job, so I don't want to leave it anywhere. I'd be screwed if I lost my keys. My truck might break down. Traffic is notoriously awful. I don't have anyone to do things with. It's so easy to come up with reasons not to do things because of Murphy's Law.

So I'm open to anyone sharing a story of past, present, future novelties for inspiration. You folks strike anything noteworthy on your bucket lists, no matter how small the step?

Are depressed/anxious folks generally averse to risk. Either you're too depressed to get up or to anxious to go out, or one state turns upon the other.

I just bury myself into my hobbies....guitar, archery, fly fishing....I miss my motorcycle & downhill skiing !
Keep yourself happily distracted in your joys.

Did you get injured or are you past an age where you want to risk injury?

Motorcycling seems pretty **** scary if you ask me. Just driving in a car one wonders how we can all trust each other so **** much. We all have stories of the guy/girl careening around a corner in our lane. Almost hit a pig in the dark of night not long ago. A friend from highschool crashed his in the rain, luckily with no substantial injuries. Not as easy to stop suddenly on two wheels than on four. Probably pretty fun though to feel exposed to the open road. If you can get out in the boonies and drive in nature, must feel great.

I have no problem risking my life. But, I don't risk my belongings. Those seem to be more important to me

What hobbies do you enjoy?

I actually go on long camping trips when the weather is nice and people aren't where I am going. On the trips I enjoy 4X4 trails, exploring canyons, walking through creeks and streams, fishing, hiking, walking through the forest, finding Petroglyphs and other indian art & ruins, caving, climbing, and camera hunting animals. When I'm not on my trips I enjoy build electronic projects, repairing / upgrading my truck, biking, and walking. For a long time I was big into watching movies. I had several thousand stored on my large tower server. But, after seeing them a couple times they got old so I deleted most of them. I still watch parts of newer movies nearly everyday. I also used to be big into computers, programming, and overclocking them to run faster then designed. I'm still kind of into computers. Oh, yeah, and solar. I have several ongoing solar electronics projects.

But, I want to get into playing with chemicals on a cellular level to see how things react which will lead me to playing with diseases. I also want to be able to do all my own lab work on myself. But, that requires experience as not everything looks the same under a microscope. Did you know that you can now, through the mail, receive your own life creation. One can order a DNA slice of say a worm and a frog stitch together (Gene stitching)? That's so cool. Then you can see if you can make it grow. I don't think it's super expensive either. But, the basic lab needed to do the work properly can be. Oh, and, spending time on this site. It's my only connection to people.

I also just read stuff on the Internet. There's an endless source of information out there just waiting to be read. For instance I recently wanted to know about microwave weapons and how much power is neccesary to produce waves to cause damage to electronics and/or living tissue and at what distances. It's surprisingly not as difficult to create something as I thought. The US stopped progress on their microwave weapon as a concern for human life, or so they say. But, other countries have continued and have tested them out on people, usually prisoners.

I just stay busy. I always want to know more.

Sounds like you're wicked smat. Wish I was a bit more mentally dynamic and interested.

Thought about getting a microscope to look at the pollen grains in honey... or my own sperm. If you had a database to identify the species of plants from which the pollen comes, you can get an idea of what was available to the bees for a season in local geography. But way too many plants involved.

Had the opportunity to learn to keep bees but seems rather work intensive. Easy to get stung through the suit.

DIY gene modification and microwave guns sounds way too complicated.
