feel like i want to die

I say something similar to myself often. A huge factor in my loneliness has been my lifelong journey of being single and rejected my seemingly all women. I know, I know, you should be able to find joy on your own, and for many stretches I do, but when your life is reaching the golden years and...

    Meditation to erase depression

Agreed. Another problem with having many friends (when you're chronically single and lonely) is that sure, they're a great distraction, they keep you busy in your free time, in fact I like to think you can almost make it through life without romance if you surround yourself with enough close...

    Pros & Cons

Pros: Life is more than half over (I'm 54). Cons: Ending every day knowing I'm going to finish this journey alone - that takes away from the joy I occasionally find, just squashes those good vibes.

How many relationships have you had??

54 yrs old, 2 relationships (each lasted roughly 2 years as well). Not a very promising record...but hey, you only need it to work right once, no? I'm not looking to break any records for volume.

Reasons not to kill yourself (the cynic's version)

It's a daily thought (for a long time), you literally reach a point where you just know life is not going to get better so you start searching for reasons (distractions ?) to stick around. As some have mentioned though, life is truly a gift, even if it sucks in some ways for many of us, I get...

    Bob Ross

We recently went on an epic 10 day adventure (hiking/trekking/running) through some of the nicest, most scenic parks in the country (Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton) and someone pointed out that: "have you notcied? no matter which direction we look it's a Bob Ross painting!"

    What made you smile today?

A funny text exchange with a very close lady friend. I just got out of the hospital after a little scare (spent the night)....thought I was having a heart issue (turns out it's only my esophagus, needs a stent, etc). It went like this: Friend: "You home yet?" Me: "Just got back, yes" "You...

One positive thing you accomplished today...

Notched yet another hum drum day at work, ran 5 miles in 97 degree weather afterwards and mowed the grass just before it rained. No drama or nonsense occurred so all in all a good day in a dull life...I'll take it.

    Unattractive

^^^ I'm fairly homely too but I can't recall ever being made fun of for it, that's gotta be rough...I think most people are decent enough to not do that even when they find you unattractive. The closest I've ever come to that was when at the end of a first/blind date, I walked the lady to her...

What do you dislike about yourself?

Sorry I missed this earlier....nope, not me, it's actually the opposite, I NEVER get sick, its been decades honestly, not exaggerating, I rarely even get a head cold and I haven't had a real fever/flu since I was a teen. I once read a study about people who do intense cardio year round, their...

What do you dislike about yourself?

My face mostly. Ok, my body is on the scrawny side being a life long distance runner but I don't necessarily dislike that, I mean it could be better but heh, I'm 100% positive I'm extremely healthy as a result...so it's probably worth it. The thing that has always bugged me about my face is, my...

    Beginning to feel suicidal

I'm the guy you mentioned earlier as having not wanting to be later in life (waking up one day and seeing a 50+ year old version of the man your are today, still alone, still unloved, chronically single, never having found a match, etc). And I had the same thoughts back then too - wanted to...

    gaming chairs suck

Never owned a chair specifically designed for gaming, always just used hand me down office chairs, gets the job done. My chair is so old and worn out I bought a $10 car seat cover to extend its life a little longer (the faux leather crap was peeling off and flying everywhere...I game hard lol)

I'm not sure which is worse

Shame to hear that, hope you stick around...I'm sure there are plenty of others that share similar views here, some may not speak up but I bet still agree. The odd thing is - I don't see you (or myself for that matter) trying to actually convince others to change their views or stating outright...

I'm not sure which is worse

Agree with this too. It's like this for many of us, no doubt. I was simply sharing a story and I don't think I'll ever try that particular test again. Was trying to agree with the OP in a way...maybe for some of us trying and failing IS worse.
