Let's have a contest ... name 5 teams you bet on they'll reach semifinals ... mine are

England, France, Brazil, Argentina, Serbia

I'd say Serbia could be dark horses for the semi's providing they don't pick up many injuries as their strength in depth could be a bit questionable. First choice 11, they look pretty handy from front to back. Should they gather momentum, they could do a Croatia like in the previous World Cup.

Spain, quarters at best. Though they play tippy tappy football, they still havn't got someone to regularly put the ball in the back of the net. Likwise with Germany, all number 10's but no Gerd Muller.

England, I expect the usual. Start of honeysuckle, get slagged off by the media then manage to scrape through to the knockout stages and so giving their supporters hope only to contrive to have themselves eliminated in a heroically bizzare circumstances. At which point queue BBC ending credits of players and fans in slo mo overlayed with some Liam Gallagher soppy introspective self indulgent song being played.

Final four : Brazil, Argentina, Serbia, Uruguay.

No, don't care about this.
The only advantage is that it will enable me to catch up with some of my recordings.

I hope Germany win but have no time to watch matches.

^ Benzema is out which is a huge shocker and kinda changes my opinion on France as a favorite. Brazil are the usual suspects: Neymaer is 30 (i swear i thought he is much older), Antony is cool and Casemiro and Coutinho at least play for big clubs. England as usual are overhyped for the bookies, will reach far this time maybe semifinal but fail after meeting some very motivated team (as always). Still secretly hoping Spain can be the winners, but about as logical as Musk banning trump again won't happen.

Oh dear Argentina, getting bullied off the park by a team ranked 52 in the world.

I've been following it,the best I can.
I used to watch MOTD every Sat.
But,when got depressed,I stopped following it.
It upset me to watch it,knowing I had no one to watch it with,or txt a friend about something that'd happened.
But,this year,I'm trying to follow it again.
Only thing is...I hardly know any of the players anymore...all these new names coming through.
I lot of the players I knew are all pundits or managers now...so it's been a while lol.
Been some turn up for the books already...with Argentina and Germany getting beat.
I'll have to try and concentrate, or my mind wonders from the games,but gonna follow it as much as I can...anyway,my team never qualified (ouch)...though there's never a chance we'd win it anyway lol

Lmao. Now in an ideal world the winner will be Spain, Japan or Brazil. Any of those 3 but Germany failing is spot on. In an ideal world france are next to book their flight to Paris.

The only thing legendary about England, me old son, is our consistency in failure. One World Cup, won when the tournament was held in Blighty and not much else tbh .... well Gary Lineker shitting his pants ( for real man! ) during a world cup match was pretty legendary for all the wrong reasons.

And Belgium 's already lost the championship.
It's a good thing I don't care about football.
So I guess I now hope Portugal will win.

Just to add. I am NOT against Germany supporting anti-racism, women rights or gay rights but just mocking the circus pose lol.

^ I forgot about Portugal: they're my favorite after Spain, Brazil or Japan only because I want Ronaldo to lift the trophy. No other of those 4 will get me excited, not even Argentina and Messi and certainly not France, UK. I wouldn't mind Croatia at all but it's impossible I'm trying to be a realist anyway.

The circus pose is supposed to indicated that they feel muzzled, they can't talk about them for fear of being sanctioned.
But it might look comical, of course.

England kneeing is ingenius in comparison, it took me like 2 seconds to come up with better idea: just make the "heart" hands gesture, the same 15 years old girls do - it's indication for 'love for all' and no to racism and homophobia...but of course they all have to be a joke and suck at football instead.
