You’ve probably all heard the saying, you are what you eat. Not literally of course, but it probably makes more sense to say that if you eat poorly, you’ll feel poorly.

I’m a big believer in eating sensibly. Sure I’ve eaten plenty of rubbish in my life and I guess looking back I can definitely say it played a role in the way I felt. On occasion I will still eat something I probably shouldn’t, but as long as you don’t over indulge you shouldn’t get too much negative effects.

Anyway, today I was listening to this podcast today and it covered some very eye opening things about our dietary intake which could benefit some members on this forum.

I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits, nuts when I remember, wholemeal bread and fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, but I’m not a vegan or vegetarian. I do drink alcohol in small amounts and not every day, but sometimes when I go camping I will drink a bit more.

How is your diet? Could it be better? Please listen to the podcast. It just might change your life.

A salad I made tonight as a side for spaghetti. I make a good salad lol. This one has mushroom (great anti cancer properties), lettuce, peppers (with some of the marinade from the jar), spring onions, kohlrabi, carrot, some cheddar cheese (I ran out of goats cheese) and a splash of apple cider vinegar.

looks good my friend I don't really think about these things I used to put a lot of thought into meals but usually I only eat what I must to survive and not really put any emphasis on the food. Mainly because I cook for others, and I usually just eat what I must for myself (sometimes not even that.) but interesting thought though might consider a healthier way of eating but as of now it's not something I put importance on. I am content with the basics and actually prefer not overthinking my food. But hey that does look like a good salad :) more power to you anything that makes you happy that's what's important have a wonderful day.

Food affects your brain and body so much. People just don't realise how much.
yea this could be true I also hear things about eating different food for different health benefits. It mainly why I use to drink a lot of medicinal teas I stopped doing that as well as it tends to get a bit expensive. I keep my life as simple as possible that's just me I don't focus on things that focus and take away from my focus on inner tranquility. Don't get me wrong I don't eat junk, but I don't eat super expensive things that are healthy either just how I am though I used to be into things like this, but I have a tendency to get over involved in things and fatigue myself from the exertion and stop doing them, so I try to keep things simple. (It's not working btw lol in some areas.)

@Bam111 green tea is very good and inexpensive. fruits and vegetables can in some places be overpriced, but you can eat healthy without over spending. And, if you think of it as an investment in your overall health and well-being, well, how do you argue with that? And enough research has been done to prove that your brain is affected differently by different food. Too many people don't want to learn to cook for themselves. Too many eat too much takeaway, fast foods and processed foods.

Are you a vegan Okidoke? You know I went vegan once, and I got sooooo sick :( I dont think I did it properly

green tea was actually the first thing my doctor ask if I was using because of my lack of sleep due to the caffeine content in it if overused like I do with things its actually harmful to the body and causes you to not rest. I am not arguing the benefits to health foods and stuff but mainly. like I said there are some who can (use moderation) and some who cannot (overly use) I have a addictive personality to things.

yes i eat meat, but not as much as i used to and I've given up all processed meats. it's not a conscious decision to not eat meat, it's just that I find I'm eating more other stuff.
Thats good, I am not sure what part of the vegan diet made me so sick, I think it was maybe losing so much weight, I couldn't walk down the street anymore, I had to keep calling people to collect me and take me home as I felt cold all the time and weak all the time, but my waist.... uhh my waist was goneeee, wish I could go back to that shape without the sickness. Idk, do you eat things to balance out eating less meat? Do you eat dairy?

As I mentioned in another thread, the last week or so I’ve been getting a bit depressed and unmotivated and I can only put it down to the crap I’ve been indulging in recently. I’m proving my OP to myself. I better stop harming myself.

Oh I have faith in you, there is importance in the little steps too :) of course crap isnt necessarily bad but everything in moderation :)

I tend to have periods where I eat too little and only junk. I lose weight and get sluggish and tired. Whenever I eat healthy again and 3 meals a day i feel energised and ready like old. The difference is like night and day but sometimes it gets overlooked.
