Pets - Mandydb2 - 02-17-2007

Does anyone have any pets and if you do do they help you with your loneliness?
I have a dog and to be honest if I didnt have her I would go insane, I know animals are no substitute for people but they sure help! at least they are happy to see you and like to be around you!

xx

My dog is my best friend. I know that sounds kind of lame, but she loves me and does whatever I say. She's a big, great, cuddly, lovey babygirl and I can't imagine life without her. My dog is my child. I would do anything for her, and she gives me everything she has. This is the most pure and honest friendship I've ever known. Nothing can compare to this love.

I have three handsome cats of which two are extremely affectionate. I don't know what I would do without them.

As Animal Planet says, "Animals ARE BETTER than humans", and I could not agree more, animals do not judge you and talk back at you,to intentionally hurt your feelings, they have unconditional love for us no matter who we are, they remind us that the media stereo typing of people is just humans sick way of portraying us,and that if animals ruled the world instead it would never matter what we looked like or how intelligent we were,as long as we all looked out for each other.God blessed us with animals so that they would be our teachers, they ARE our true friends on this earth, watch the bumble bees buzz round a flower and you will feel at one with the simplicity of nature, hear a bird sing and you will feel as though it is calling you also, watch a fish swim and see the beauty in its scales as it shimmers and almost puts you in a peaceful trance with its colours.Believe in your heart no matter how alone we think we are, we are never truly alone,a spider,a moth,a lacewing,a fly,any form of nature is watching us, im sure!on the spiritual side if you close your eyes think of lost loved ones and feel a breeze you will know they are there, angels are our guides and they too are with us,just because you cant see something does not mean its not there, sense with your heart, not your head, you wont feel so alone, i do this when the sun shines on my face and i feel the warmth of nature,by watching a lonely worm that could burn if i dont pick it up and place it away from the sun,i feel when i save a creature,i have made that creature feel they are not alone, someone cares, someone is willing to help them, it does not matter that it is a worm, what matters is I saved its life, and it made me feel I had a friend for that moment, knowing,I know it is grateful,I went out of my way for it.Everyone has there own comfort through loneliness, mine is animals, pets and just any little creature.
I have a zoo at home, a cat a dog a chameleon, and many beautiful geckos, I LOVE Geckos.I love all my animals, and find company in each of them in different ways, they give so much and ask so little, if ANYONE on this site does not have a pet, i would advise you to get one,a snail a goldfish,it does not matter, im sure they will make you feel that bit less alone!Wink
God Bless

Keke, I don't have to "keep" geckos, they come on their own. Toungue
We let them stay cause it's fun to watch them, and they aren't annoying... they just stay behind the closet or behind the fridge during the day, and come out at night. They also eat moths, which ARE annoying. :p It's funny watching them chasing each other after a moth..

(although I feel sad for the moths... why most something die to keep something else alive ?)

I also have a doggy... she is nice. Sadly, being human means that you want other humans to be your friends.. a relationship with an animal doesn't give you that, just makes you a little bit less lonely. You still need someone of your own species... that's how humans are... we need each other, but we are so mean to each other.

I wonder if a dog who only interacts with humans all the time, and no other dogs also feels lonely. Are humans a good substitute for its natural desire to have dog-friends ?

I think my dog is lonely... all she does is sleep all day. That's how dogs and cats can escape loneliness... humans can't. Me, my mom and my dad are the only "friends" she has... she has nobody of her own species. Nobody to talk with her in her language, nobody that can understand her.

She doesn't know how to socialize with other animals, she attacks huge dogs that could snap her spine with a single bite, and she is scared of tiny kittens. (because a kitten scratched her on the nose once)

"animals are better than humans" <-- agreed. A dog loves you unconditionally and with all its heart. Few humans can do that... and with reason, because if they did, they would be backstabbed. Humans are evil. Sad

I'm always scared that if someone loved me like that, I would hurt them... because I am evil too, and can hurt others. I try not to, but I can...

I'm always scared to hurt anything... at early morning I go around and move away snails from the pathways, so that people don't step on them in the morning, and the sun doesn't fry them.

Also I try to not kill any insects that come to my house... even roaches and mantises. I wrap them in TP instead and throw them outside. I also save ants from sinks and leftover teacups. :p

I saved a roach from the toilet once. I can also hold roaches with my bare hands... most people hate them.

I am insane. :-D

Mimizu,
I think it is beautiful that you can openly express you do like to save bugs, i was a little worried on what you guys would think when i told you about the saving of worms and other creatures!!!LOL, But hey they deserve to live, dont they!.WOW Lucky you, where do you live if you dont mind me asking were you can see Geckos and have Geckos living in your house???, awl that is my dream, im Gecko mad,I had my Geckos mainly Leopard Geckos, before I got my dog, but i dont know its like i have a strong bond and understanding with reptiles, especially Geckos.Sadly i cant have any wild Geckos, as i live in Britain, so can only have pet ones!,all my animals make me feel less lonely, and I know its not as much company as a human to talk to, but it does,as you said also, give me that little something*Wink
I know what you mean about the moths,Geckos have got to eat though,I have to feed my animals mealworms, and waxworms.
Yes I do agree with you that dogs need their own species too, my dog well puppy,he is happy enough with our company, but is VERY happy when he can get to run free in the park with other doggie pals, its ike we dont exist when he has other dogs to run with, but i cant always give him pals, as they are not always there, and i dont know any others, just like you dont with your dog, have you got a small dog?, as its a case of seeing owners with a dog, your dog may be able to say hello to,you could take your dog to a doggie class?, there she will find friends, and who knows, you may too!.
Talking about sleeping all day, when i am very depressed thats all i feel like doing, but with animals, cats will have their head and ears down, dogs will have their head down, with eyes dazing into space, and your right they may sleep a lot more than usual.
Some humans are evil hun,not all, best way to find out,is to ask someone what a conscience is!,if they say they dont know, stay clear of them!!!Sad
NO you are not evil, because if you were you would not bother with this site, you would not care about love and comfort, and you probably would not own any pets, please never think your self evil, you are a good person, your dog and family love you,and in time im sure a lot of people here will get to know and love you*Wink
We are all scared of getting hurt, thats why on here you can vent your feelings and should not be judged,as its normal theres a lot of anger here, people feeling, why me!.
Awl me too, I save snails, used to have a pet snail,i had saved from a bird,my snail loved coffee and tea biscuits!!!LOL i know MAD!.
Its so sweet you go out of your way in the morning to protect the snails, im sure if they could talk, they would say thank you!*Wink
Well I dont think its insane to hold a cockroach,I held a Madagasgar hissing cockroach,it was cute, i see beauty in the most misunderstood of creatures, its a good way to be*,im glad you feel the sameWink
God Bless

Heh... thanks..

"my snail loved coffee and tea biscuits" <-- is it [coffee] and [tea biscuits], or [coffee biscuits] and [tea biscuits] ? (haven't heard of such a thing as a coffee biscuit... but I'm not english, you guys have all kinds of biscuits. :p)

If you fed your snail with coffee, maybe that's why you don't have it anymore. Sad

RE: Pets - angel_light - 03-19-2007

LOL, tea biscuits are a plain biscuit you dunk in your tea over here, and yes i meant coffee you drink, but no thats not how i lost him, sadly my parents found out and i had to put him in the garden,so he must have slithered off to find other snails as i put him near the neighbours garden where i knew they had no poison or snail pellets to kill him!. I spashed coffee on the tea biscuit he was eating one night, and was amazed when he was eating the biscuit faster because of the coffee, i think the coffee gave him a buzz!!!LOLWink

RE: Pets - DUBLINGUY - 03-19-2007

Hi Guys, I have just joined up today. I agree totally with your comments on Pets. If it was not for my Westie, I would have no one to come home to in the Evening's, Share weekends with (except my family and parents)... I been single for over two years now and I lost all my friends during my 11 year relationship as my partner did not want me socialising with my friends.
Now I don't know where to begin to get it all back together again.
I live in a rural area in Ireland and it is difficult for people to come visit. So I pretty much spend all my time out of work on my own.
I have even started to taking vacations on my own, which is really crapie i guess, But i love to travel and if I dont have anyone ot do it with I jsut go ahead and go on my own...
I would love to bring my Dog with me but i would not put him true the hassle of flying..
