    You know your lonely when

It's 7.59pm on a Friday and you're already in bed, because your bed is a giant hug that you don't get from anywhere else :( This thread brought a tear to my eyes. I can relate to 95% of them. Most days being lonely doesn't bother me. But sometimes it does become painful (usually weekends). I do...

Am I choosing to be lonely?

I think you may all be correct. A combination of all of those. I don't enjoy social situations much unless they are quiet occasions and I hate crowds. Yet at the same time I do believe I sometimes keep people at a distance because it is easier that way. Surely this frame of mind must be...

Am I choosing to be lonely?

I worked in hospitality trade for ten years (until a couple of weeks ago), so I seem to have spent my life surrounded by people, yet never connected closely with anyone enough to have a very true friend. Only casual friends that I would occasionally go out with, and end up going home early...

    A new face

4 years ago I used to be a different person. I had a facial disfigurement through a large underbite. I had lived with a face that I hated and couldn't bear to look in the mirror. Then I wore orthodontic braces for two years and had a major reconstructive surgery on my face. Looking in the...

Am I choosing to be lonely?

Hi. Maybe this is a silly question.... But I just don't understand myself sometimes. I don't really have friends - only 'acquaintances'. I think this is because I usually put work and security before social life. But on the odd occasion I do get invited out, I always find excuses not to go...

    Feeling chatty

Well, I suppose it's nice to have invites... Even if they are pity invites :/ I suppose you just need to decide whether you'll be happier alone on Christmas (feeling sorry for yourself and cooking for one) or going to dinner with friends who make you feel (unintentionally) like a lemon....

    Feeling chatty

Prestwick in Ayshire. A lovely place. Hopefully I shall visit in January, after spending christmas completely alone, which is going to cripple me. I've never spent christmas alone before, especially without my parents. I'm actually dreading Christmas Eve :( anyway... I love Scotland. I went to...

    Feeling chatty

I love Derby! I don't live in the city, just in a neighbouring village, but out of the many places I have lived, it is my favourite. All of my family are in Scotland, yet I chose to remain here in Derby (alone), because I love it here.

    Feeling chatty

Oh right thanks, I consider today 'a good day'. Days when I feel ok being alone. They are quite rare for me. You can see that by my other threads. But I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I didn't mean to. I'm still new, I didn't realise that I shouldn't post general stuff here. I won't do it again

I don't know what you mean by 'ALL' :)

    Feeling chatty

Oh well, one thing that sprung to mind was the backwards dating system on the forum. As a British person I find the position of the day of the month and the month always confusing! I'm so used to reading dates uk style. Why does the US have the month number first and then the date within the...

    Feeling chatty

I'm feeling so chatty tonight. And I have no-one to talk to! Not a great combination. Anyone else feel like talking waffle?! :) I'm open to any conversation topics!

    What are you craving?

White wine and a cheeseburger would be lovely right now.

    Comfort blanket

It's 2.15am for me and I'm still on this forum. It feels like such a comfort blanket to me. What a lovely feeling :)

    Hello, I'm new here

Not at all :) My sister and two of my aunts are married to wonderful me who seem to dote on them. I know there are good men out there. I just need to find one and learn to deal with my own trust issues. Hopefully I'll get there eventually :)

Cheating, toxic relationships and how to get over them

Every guy I've been in a relationship with (the huge number 4) has cheated on me. Yet my sister and two of my aunts are married to men who worship them. Even though I have major' *major* trust issues, I do know that not all men cheat (just most of them, sorry guys)

I'm 25, no luck so far. Is it too late?

If it's too late for you then there is really no hope for me! I think that you need to realise that only nasty women would embarrass you if you asked to get to know them and they didn't want to. Nice, kind women (hopefully the sort you want) will generally appreciate being chatted up by a...

    Hello, I'm new here

Hello, I thought I should introduce myself. I'm a 30 year old female living in the UK. And my life is a lonely one. I was brought up in the army. We had to move house every 6-12 months. I spent the first ten years of my life making fiends and losing friends. For a child this is difficult. In...
