    Isolation/Loneliness is getting to me

One two three! Awhhhhh... I hope that was funny:) It does really sound like you are doing the best with the situation you have. That is something to be proud of. Have you ever considered online gaming? It has a definite social aspect to it that is greater than forums, because you are working...

Is your problem a lack of meaning in life?

Have you tried writing down a list of long term goals on a card? I got this idea out of a career book, but I think it applies to all of life. For example, a few of mine are: Maintain strong mental and physical health. Travel to visit friends and see the world. Retire when I'm 70. The point...

    Lonely: A Memoir

I borrowed it from the library:) You don't have one or don't have access to one where you live? Here's a link to her blog, which gives you an idea of what the book is about. http://www.lonelythebook.com/loneliness-blog/

    Lonely: A Memoir

Has anyone read this new book by Emily White? I just read it last week - I really identified with a lot with her describing emotional versus social loneliness. I think I have a lot more of a problem with social loneliness now (e.g., not having a large social network locally to draw on), but I...

38 never been in a relationship

To get back to the original poster, I went to a therapist last year who told me that slowly over time you can learn to love yourself, when I told her I don't like myself. I didn't believe her, but here I am a year later able to be much more gentle towards myself. And, I'm not exactly sure how...

I have no purpose in life

Just some suggestions - nothing more. You say you run at night - have you gotten yourself outside during the day time? It could give you more things to look at than the four walls. I think the visual complexity of the natural world can calm our minds down a little. Lists always help me too...

    Isolated at Work

Wow - thanks for the quick responses. It's just nice to hear I'm not the only one feeling this way. Short term, I don't see a change for myself. The office is 1.5 hrs away and no one is ever there unless we all schedule to meet there. My brain is definitely mush a lot and I feel like I have...

    Isolated at Work

Hi, I was curious how many people on here work from home? I have been doing it for the past 2 or 3 years and it is very isolating for me. I have a good day if I go in to our office and reconnect with people and get a better sense of purpose. Then I have a slow slide of confidence and happiness...

Congrats - going to the gym always makes me feel better. Both from the endorphins and the sense of accomplishment.

    Greetings

Hi all, I just stumbled upon this website this evening. My low-level feelings of loneliness I've had all my life have blossomed now that I work from home. I can go for days without seeing/talking to anyone except my live-in boyfriend. I have a few friends that I'm in touch with on a...
