Bohnanza is a card game in which you take the role of a bean farmer. You have bean cards to plant and 2 (or 3) fields to plant them in. The more beans you have in a field the more gold you get when you harvest. Once you have played three times through the deck the game is over and the farmer with the most gold wins. Sounds easy, huh?

Here is the catch you MUST plant your beans in the order they come into your hand and you may plant only one type of bean per field. Beans that you can't (or don't want to) plant you may trade with other players. You may only trade with the active player and may not make three-way trades.

After trades are finalized everyone must plant the beans they acquired that turn. If you have more types of beans to plant than you have fields, you may have to harvest sooner than you like. Gold is represented on the back of the cards and harvesting allows you to keep a certain number of cards (based on the rarity and number of beans you have harvested). The remaining beans go into the discard pile. Later in the game there are fewer and fewer beans as harvested plants turn into gold.
