Do you like the names that you were given? My name is Jason Edward Welch. The initials spell "Jew". Not that I mind. Those who know me find it a little humorous in an innocent way. As do I.

God Bless.
Jason

I'm actually more known for some actor then for my name. I don't mind it but I think that ideally, I'd not choose my name if I could choose any name.

My given name is Shalisa Elaine Devine. I use to hate the name Shalisa cause everyone messed it up. I love it now cause its so different. Elaine is my moms middle name. I always liked Devine, even though it was the butt of many jokes like Shalisa Devine, you so fine. Then when I was in the Air Force when we answered the phone we had to state who we were and that the line was unsecure, so that went Airman Devine unsecure line :/ My last name now is Hofmister which everyone fucks to hell and back calling me Hofmyster and all other kinds of honeysuckle, so I just answer to whatever now :D

Shalisa is a really pretty name.

And lol, I hear you.

I get some amusement from the fact my family (grandmothers, even my father) botches my name. I don't bother to correct.

That's better than what I've heard before like stripper or porn star :D

Thanks Ox :) Yeah I'm like just call me whatever, I don't even care anymore.

I like the name I was given, but I usually wish my mom spelled it in the more standard way. Because she didn't, everyone mispronounces it and always in ways that just.. irritate me. My name is Shaina but I wish it was spelled "Shayna" so maybe people would butcher it less.

Some people still can't fathom how to pronounce my name no matter how much I explain it, even my father-in-law called me "Shy-na" for three years years. That's the most common mispronunciation I get.

Have you considered having it changed legally? Or would it hurt you mother if you did so?

I've never really liked mine, nor does my mom but she let our dead beat dad name my brother and I. Being called a popular fast food clown got annoying after awhile just because some people couldn't bother trying to tell us apart. People often get our last name wrong and would tease us. Stupid thing is that the way it is spelled has a completely different meaning. Sometimes we'd correct people to make them look stupid.

That'd be an awful lot of trouble for a one letter difference. I could just informally change the spelling if I needed to.

My name is Christine, which is also one of the MOST common name here. Every school year I'd have 2-3 classmates with the same name as I do. So I ended up being called by my surname, which lead people to think I am a boy... I never told anyone at grade school my nickname, though it was obvious since it was always the nickname for Christine... it's tin-tin...which also means penor in my local dialect. soooo yeah >.>

oh I forgot to add. My cousin who left for Germany right after my mom gave birth to me was the one who named me. Her husband now is named Christian. Which I think is cool. Kinda like meant-to-be's :D so that's the one thing I like about my name :)

There was a guy I knew in high school that would call me the "Juice Man" because of the "Welch's Grape Juice" product.

i have a very common name also <kimberly> and have always been called 'kim'...hated it...10 years ago when my now deceased new boss at the time called me 'kimmie pie' from the jump...it stuck...my 2 little nephews <4 & 5> ONLY know me as aunt 'kimmie pie' and it's the cutest thing ever to hear them call me that...some people also call me 'devious' <dveeus>...:D

I dislike my name. Jennifer is very common. My last name is apparently impossible to pronounce correctly and to be honest, I get pretty **** snippy when I have to correct people more than once. My maiden name isn't too bad and it's easy to pronounce, but I got a lot of honeysuckle for that too (although, my brothers got more than I did.)

I don't like my given name. It's old school, it is hard to pronounce and difficult to be remembered by some. People always make mistakes. It always surprises me when someone can remember my name or spell it right out of memory. It's impressive.

That's surprising, I think your name is quite easy to remember and spell. I could spell it right now if you asked me. I've never heard it pronounced though, so I don't know whether the accent is on the first or second syllable. Once I heard it though, I wouldn't forget how to say it either.

But I feel your pain. My name is short and you'd think it'd be quite easy to spell, but everyone gets it wrong all the time, even relatives and people who have known me my whole life. I've seen at least 30 incorrect variations, and it's quite irritating. It's not all that uncommon either, so I don't really understand why it's so difficult.

Aside from that though, I love my name. Not a huge fan of my last name though, just because it's rather boring. People spell that wrong too, because there are two commonly used variations of it, and even though mine is the slightly more common one, for some reason everyone assumes it's the other one.

I once wanted a different name, but I'm okay with it now. Only problem is that my entire life is filled with incidents of people butchering my name while trying to spell it or speak it one way or the other. I honestly get surprised if someone reads my name and pronounces it correctly.
