So tonight I burned my small stash of porno in my backyard. It was fun...seeing some girl's moaning face go up in flames was quite fascinating. I hardly ever looked at it anyway...so it was more symbolic. I am sick of women being objectified and put on a pedestal in my mind and believe that's what is ruining my ability to meet them effectively and making me so nervous. Fire is very good at cleansing.

I work with guys that keep porn on their computers amongst some pretty perverse and even disgusting things... I don't like the way it makes me feel, so I don't do porn. I remember a quote from Ted Bundy I heard years ago saying: "porn made me kill those women"... though in all likelihood that was only a factor, not a direct cause for his behavior... other psychological studies preformed in various universities, state that pornography does desensitize a person, and eventually leads to a desire for more and more "harder porn"... I think it takes many more factors to lead a person into murder and beyond... a book titled "The Psychology of Serial Killers" describes the many, many factors required in the receipt to create a serial killer... porn alone won't create a murderer. However, it is good you've destroyed your porn though... addictions are a horrible thing... I know from being a long time smoker and having finally quit it after many past failures... it's good that it never came to a point where it had a hold over you to begin with.

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that fire is certainly cleansing, and it brings new beginnings... forest fires clear out dead growth, and make room for new life... just like the phoenix death and rebirth, new life can come from the cleansing of fire... hopefully this will be true for you. When I broke up with my first love long ago, after a year of constantly suffering, I burned everything that I had that had anything to do with her in a huge bonfire... the next week I met someone else that helped me get over my pain a little, and see that there could be life beyond my loss. Hopefully this fire will symbolize change for you as well.

Anyway, just my thoughts... thanks for sharing snow.

WOW! You burnt them all. Well I don't see that there is anything wrong with a bit of porn just as long as it don't take over your life. So if your looking at it to much then that is a good thing you did.

Taking control of your life :)

I myself only look at it ones in a blue moon.

1 because I fined its very quickly got board of
and 2 because my imagination is loads better then any porno I could watch

There really are different ways to look at it.

Are some of the famous statues of nude figures objectifying people?

There are a great many women in the world who live very hard lives who might not be able to make it any other way then how they do. Not all, but some. At least pictures are in most cases a safe income for them.

I just think one needs to not treat people themselves as if they are an object. That it is not acceptable for any reason. People are not: their jobs, not their title, not their degrees, not their wallets, not their cloths, not their look, not their walk, not their talk, not their race, not their creed, not their gender, not their nationality. People are quite simply just people.

Funny thing is I cleared my hard drive several months ago.

I'm seconding bluey's response in that I discovered awhile back that my imagination is much more fascinating to me than viewing porn. Seeing a beautiful woman fully clothed and attempting to envision what's underneath is kind of arousing.

Skirts are the worst for me. They don't even have to be short. Just a hint of a knee and I slip into fantasy land.

I may be a pervert, but I'm a creative pervert.

Women nowdays seem to be a little bit different...the internet has brought out a very different side of society, and now it seems like tons of women are lining up to do porn. I don't know if it's just because of the money, or because they really want to be pornstars. But it seems like it's not very hard for these directors to get women for their videos/photoshoots. I don't think there's much wrong in liking porn, it's natural to do so. But the fact that people like it so much that anyone in the porn business can make money nowdays is really disturbing. The industry I think made more money than Hollywood last year.

The idea of my post is beyond porn...I think men have been conditioned to lose their power to these women, not pornstars per se but those average women that spend hours and hours beautifying themselves and wearing tight clothing. And I'm no exception. I want to destroy (if I could set fire to it I would) all of that conditioning and learn to communicate naturally.

I'm the same way except with men which is why GQ is my favorite magazine. You should see the looks I get at the store while flipping through an issue of GQ. :D

You just gave me an idea Colette. We could do a lonely life calendar with some of the ppl on here in it. You would make front page of course. I made a 2008 calendar for my Nana. But it took me like forever. I got picks of all the family and put them in for her. But I did it all on paint and I am still learning so it was a bit of a pain staking job for me.

Never thought about that. I should just skip the Playboys and Penthouses and grab some fashion magazines. Genius! :)

Ive given up on girls (not say I like men now), I just dont feel like wasting my time with them anymore, all they do is hurt me.

LOOK AT ME OBJECTIFYING!!

Porn is only an object, the symbol by which you projected your need for control and power. But like any other symbol, it can be powerful and by destroying it, you might be confronting a much more significant inner demon.

I should add that I'm a fairly unapologetic viewer of porn and actually write erotica(and have sent it to female friends who requested it); how much porn I watch depends on the day and mood. I have a gigantic stash, over a gigabyte, but tend to only indulge in it once or twice a month for a few dedicated hours. I'm entirely shameless about it, as not only do I view it, but I also share it pics over MSN with my best friend online. Porn does bore me fast, regretfully.

My belief is that I am a healthy young man, which includes having a healthy sex drive which I refuse to apologize for, and this includes vicariously satisfying it with attractive women. My thoughts are my own, and I refuse to censor or deny anything to the theater of my mind. I can maintain a clear divide between fantasy and reality, and do not see the harm in watching recordings or photos of girls having simulated or real sex.

I've never worried about objectification because I know I appreciate women for their minds and souls as much as their bodies, though that does not certainly preclude me from appreciating a woman for her physical gifts. Porn by itself, I noted, tends to bore me swiftly if its without a sense of emotional content or connection with the actors.

Pornographically yours,
IO
