If this passes I will never drink Milk again... EVER!

http://www.change.org/petitions/fda...-chemicals-in-milk-other-dairy-products#share

"Unless we speak up now, the milk we drink could be legally laced with aspartame and other chemical sweeteners that are known to cause health problems. The dairy industry's most powerful trade associations, The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), have just asked the government for permission to add chemical sweeteners to milk and 16 other dairy products -- without telling consumers.

If the FDA allows this, aspartame and other other chemical sweeteners that have been linked to serious health issues for some people would be added to our food -- and we wouldn't even know it. These industry groups want to add this to our food without having to identify it on the ingredients label.

Aspartame is a known excitotoxin that causes nerve damage or destruction from overstimulation of neurotransmitters. It has been linked to migraines, seizures, slurred speech, autoimmune disorders, and stroke. While the FDA no longer tracks complaints specific to aspartame, it was estimated that prior to 1992 between 75-85% of the complaints the FDA received were linked to aspartame.

As a parent and a student of nutrition and health, I can't believe this is even being considered. I believe people should have a choice when it comes to putting chemicals in our bodies. It is unacceptable to think the dairy industry could start adding these chemicals into their products without telling the public. We all deserve a choice, and the industry wants to take that away.

Labeling laws were designed to protect & empower consumers, arming them with the information necessary to make choices to protect themselves and their families. Hidden ingredients of any kind put sensitive individuals at risk and violate all individual's rights to make fundamental personal choices regarding their own food supply.

The FDA is inviting the public's comments on this important issue. We have just 90 days to speak out against this.

NOW is the time to tell them NO to hidden ingredients."
