ANIME

I admit that I am addicted to anime....I have quite a collection (a few hundred bucks worth....quite a lot considering I am only 17 lol) and I relish every DVD I collect. I tend to buy the entire series at once becuase I hate having to wait for the next installment to come out, plus its cheaper in the long run.

so to get to the meaning of this. What Anime do you like, and what about it that makes you like it?



for me it would have to be Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebob, FLCL, Gundam Wing, Gantz, Gad Gaurd, GunGrave, Ghost In The Shell, and .Hack


I love Outlaw Star because it was the first anime I watched, back when adult swim (tv channel) was taboo and you had to hide watching it from the parents. It had an interesting plot and was one of the first real anime series to hit the U.S. (in my opinion)

Cowboy Bebop is made by the same people who made Outlaw Star, and a lot of the things in them are similar, space combat, pirates vs police vs bounty hunters. Although in this the main character works quite intimately with the police (Jet). The music is what really caught me in the beginning, before I had patience to listen to the plot and see how cool it was, the swift jazz beats and odd sounds worked well and I have the soundtrack on my ipod to this day

FLCL is one of the oddest shows I have seen in quite a while. It is basically a guitar weilding, andriod renegade space police-woman searching for a pirate king (Atomsk) in order to take his power, all the while fighting evil brainwashing robots (Medical Mechanica) taht spout from a barely pubescent boy's head....which she caused by hitting him with her guitar. The show has a really subtle theme and once you see it you will feel like all the chaotic nonsense might actually make some sense....maybe lol

Gundam Wing was one of those shows that hooked me just on the premise, kids my age piloting gigantic robots and fighting corrupted officials and all that stuff. It has rich and deep political themes and a character that practically embodies Napoleon (Trieze Khushrenada! YAY!) and the originator of the infamous 'hn, the sound when an anime character is being all emo (sasuke from naruto) or just being full of themselves, yep, Heero Yuy, the original badass.

Gantz is hard to describe.....it satisfies the more carnal desires, it has raunchy sex, characters who swear to high heaven, and blood. LOTS of it. I dont know what to say about the plot. I dont really remember the final episodes and the characters seemed really bland. There was the Ahole who was also a whiny brat, the good-doer who never backed down from a fight, the prissy girl who cries every five minutes......it was an okay show, but the script could have used some revising :/

Gad Gaurd, this show was awesome in my opinion. It mixed mobile suits like Gundam Wing and had a realistic, decrepit society in the backround, the characters struggles seemed realisitc and had me rooting for them at every turn. I only wish I had enough time to watch the series again and again!

Gungrave....this show was....I dont know how to describe it. It is one of those things that when you try to describe, you can only grasp a fraction of the wonders it holds. This show made me happy, made me sad, at several points I actually felt like crying....considering I havent done that in god knows how long and I am a very 'rough around the edges' kinda person, that is saying something.

Ghost in the Shell is the only anime I have seen that goes into detail describing technology and delving into socio-political discussions and actively using very possible conflicts to show a possible reality. I know somewhere who hates this show because by his words 'its stupid, there is too much talking, I dont understand any of it' just becuase he doesnt get it he calls it boring and stupid, if he understood bigger concepts than his hentai (animated porn :/) then he might decern this shows greatness.

lol, finally, the last show on my list.

.Hack, I dont know where to begin, at the premise where this is a show about an MMO where a character gets stuck and cant leave, how (s)he is trapped and falls into despair, gets manipulated by characters who dont know better, unwillingly puts other players into coma's in real life.....all I can say is that it should be watched. along with all the other anime I have talked about, I might not see all the anime there is ou there, but from what I have seen these are just a few of the great.

I hope my incessent babbleing hasnt left you yawning....I enjoy anime too much to just make things snappy and simple, bettle to unleash the tide and hope it comes out comprehensible, oh well!


so what about you guys (and girls)?

Dont laugh but dragonball/z, loved it as a kid, still watch it every now and then, got the whole set on my comp.

I watched DBZ as a kid but trying to watch it nowadays is painful.....the filler episodes are long and filled with nonsensical plot directions.....though I think it is finally over, havent seen anything after GT yet, though knowing them they will probably just fast forward the universe a few generations and use the original characters as legends or something :/

Its been over years ago, dragonball came out in the 80s i think

Goku dies for realsies in GT. Basically, that's what happens. But first he gets turned into a little kid again and the dragon turns evil and divides into 7 different dragons, each one a manifestation of one of the 7 wishes made with the earth dragon balls throughout DB and DBZ. Basically, I never saw any of it either so that could be all wrong, but at least that's how I was told that it went.


Um, ok. If you've been around for a few months and have talked to me more than twice then you'd know I love the show One Piece. It is basically just anime on crack, and I love it.

Vegeta, what does the scouter say about his power level?

i love "FLCL". i like it because it can be intupreted in many different ways. tthe girl can be seen as his bro coming back and the eye brows show fake michirity. its a deep series if you look at it closly.

If you cant tell by my name i love "Outlawstar". i like the backround info. they give at the start of each episoide. i like the ending and the idea of being an outlaw.

"Evangelion". Its a deep series. it help form sum of my thoughts on life ingeneral and the prceptions that humans have. The last two episoids or the movie witch can be watched insted of the last two episodes sum up the seireios. i highly recomend it for any one thats lonly or depressed. Highly must see series.

"School Rumble". It a series based on love triangles. its about teens chacing after the ones they love. it makes fun of other animes and its super funny. They have a ton of great episoids. I also say this is a must see series

"Hellsing". Its a great manga. if you see the anime only the ultimate Serious will do. its about vampiers. it sets up great fight sceans and it gory as hell.

Now "Cowboy". the manga has nothing to do with the anime but its fun to read any ways. The last episoide mad me cry and the thing that spike said about losing an eye and only being able to see patches of the present left a ever lasting inpression on me. (i know im a super Nerd)

"Trigun." The hero of this series and Goku are the only heros that i find to be true noble heros. They are what we all should want to be if we had that power. this anime has funny scenes and great action scenes. Vash is who i aspire to be.

"Ghost in the shell". the anime sceries acuwally has some baceis in physiology. the two main things its baced on is the Copy Cat complex and stand alone complex. it also has episodes with Nostalgia and you realy have to pay attention to the episoides and watch it episoide by episode.

"Battle Angel Alita." I only read the manga but i know the anime egxist. There is the first series whitch is called just that and the last stand series. they have no connection. They're both about a female cyborg. The First series is about her felling lonly and traveling around tryingto fell the void. its also about the seperation of the rich and poor. the last stand is about many differing things. They both have great fight series and they're gory.

As far as DBZ goes if your going to watch it only uncut series will do.

Bleach is cool but i see it as a other DBZ with out the truly noble hero.

Naruto is cool to but shippuden is better.

And well im running out of steam here so ill call that good and can you guys tell me of what you think of my signature ^^.

wow i never thought of FLCL like that, now I will go back and watch it yet again trying to see if that makes it make any more sense lol

There are some good recommendations here, had never heard of School Rumble or Battle Angel Alita before

I miss Death Note

ohh yea i forgot death note. i loved that manga but it drug on to long and i couldnt finish it.
and the reson ive read so many mangas is because there is a whole wall of them at my school

Yeah, I watch anime! ^^ I've seen quite a lot... And unlike you, I don't buy the dvds (I have a whole collection of burnt disks)... Because I am poor, I do buy the ones I really like though (I only brought Evangelion and DNAngel lol).

Hmm, from your list, I seen: Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Gundam Wing and .Hack.

I used to be a big Gundam Wing and Cowboy Bebop fan. :S I still like it. =)

My favourites are: Byousoku 5 cm, Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, The girl who Leapt through Time, True Tears, Air, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ouran High School Host Club, Evangelion... (yeah... They kinda more girly.. And you might not have heard of them)

Just to think of it i cant believe that none of us has brought up "Chobits" or "Samiria 7" (<- i know i can spell)
Capricious if you like kind of dark mangas take a look at "confidential confessions" the mangas about rape victims, suicidal people, prostitutes, People born with the Hiv virous and more.

"Paranoia Agent" is a great anime but i dont know how to discribe it.

"The get backers" its a funny anime and wortha look.

If you wasted alot of your life on video games then "Gamerz Heaven" is also worth a look.

ohh and Capricious do you know the anime with the high school for bad a$$e$

I don't like chobits, it was one of the first anime I watched X). Samurai 7.. I never seen.
Paranoia Agent looks weird. (never saw it XD) Or Get backers. And I don't think I can play Gamerz Heaven because I can't read Japanese. Lol.

Your the first ive heard say they didnt like chobits. and i didnt need more details to find the anime about the high school for bad asses. i just googled high school for bad asses and the anime is "Cromartie High" its funny at some pionts but uses alot of the same joke over and over.

I like to watch sad, depressing animes like Grave of The Fireflies, Evangelion, 5 cm per second, Voices of A Distant Star, .hack//SIGN, Saikano, etc.

But I watch the cute ones the most. My latest anime in the cute category is Ichigo Mashimaro.

I don't actively watch anime neither am I part of the active fandom of it but I like the aesthetic and artstyle of it which makes it appealing to me. I did howewer watch a few animes as a child which was Princess Mononoke, Avatar, My Neighbor Totoro and One Piece. Maybe there are more classics I watched which I can't recall right now.

As an adult, I gave it another try starting around one year ago I believe. I watched Gabriel Dropout, K-On!, BLEND-S, Saint Young Men Jesus and Buddha, Welcome to the N.H.K and the Otachan Show. Had a laugh since some of them had an amount of humor to them, but ultimatively dropped out afterwards as the majority of animes are hot garbage in my view and im not entertained by them.

I'd rather continue watch real TV shows. The Gomorrah series is a good one and Alice in Borderland seems to be decent, I'm waiting for the next season dropping this December.
