Hey any one watches animes?
#31
For any fans of Attack on Titan I believe the next episodes of the anime won't be released till 2016. On a separate note, has anyone seen the wind rises? If so, what did you think of it?

I know, I’m pretty close to winning a Darwin Award (as a guy desperately looking for a female companion / soul mate), but I’ll admit that my favorite anime in this season is Yuri Kuma Arashi.

My favorite fansub version is by Asenshi:

I started watching Naruto last year but couldn't get past the filler. I might start again. Smile

I've heard good things about Attack on Titan and the new Dragonball Z film too.

Skid Row 89, I'm a huge Ghibli fan! The Wind Rises was my favourite film of last year. It was only played in one small arthouse theatre where I live, and I ended up seeing it by chance. I haven't been so moved by a Ghibli film since the first time I saw Grave of the Fireflies. I don't think I'll ever look at a Zero fighter quite the same way ever again.

"The wind rises... We must try to live..." Sad
And blood-black nothingness began to spin
A system of cells interlinked within
Cells interlinked within cells interlinked
Within one stem. And dreadfully distinct
Against the dark, a tall white fountain played.

I love anime, but when i watch it comes and goes like i might watch it for a while straight then not watch any for a year. Im old school too like somebody else who was posting earlier, i started out watching it back in the days of robotech. When i was a kid in the eighties that was one of my favorite things to watch i was glued to the tv because id never seen anything like it. As far as old stuff my favorite was probably Vampire hunter D as movies go.Also another old one i really liked was Gaiarth Genesis Survivor. I seen Akira like somebody else had mentioned but honestly i never seen what the huge deal was about that movie or why everybody went kinda nuts for it lol. It was okay but it didnt really blow my mind or anything. I know im in the minority on that but i usually am on everything and im good with that.

As far as stuff now i watched all of wolfs rain, i really enjoyed that, if you never seen it i highly recommend it, and No 6 was pretty good, i like Ergo proxy,Heroic AGE, this week im watching some little OVA called Gargantia on the Verduous Planet, yeah longest title ever i know lol.Thats actually where my avatar is from, its Ledo the main character. I really seem to like post apocalyptic sci fi and darker grittier stuff. Just because in those kinds of sittuations war etc it forces different sets of characters that wouldnt normally be together into all kinds of crazy sittuations and i enjoy seeing how they interact.

I cant really get into anime either where the characters constantly announce what theyre doing like MEGA ATTACK ZERO KNEECAP KILLER BEAM ACTIVATE! lol That crap drives me nuts, im not really a fan of chibi artstyle either but i respect that other people like it.Just not really my thang.

Theres still a metric crap ton of stuff i want to watch but it takes a while to get to it i guess.

Also as as an old school anime guy i really kinda hate how its became mainstream and if you do find somebody that watches anime its like everybody watches the same old shows and theyve probably practically seen everything ever made and know all the artists, writers, etc. I honestly dont care that much lol but i do love watching it, its awesome. I just dont wanna get a masters degree in the study of it or anything.

just wanted to note that^

I'm not a fan of older shows. The art style's pretty important to me. I also drift towards romcom because they're usually shorter series. In the past two months I watched, in ranking:
1. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
2. Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions [season 1]
3. Toradora
4. Love Stage
5. Princess Jellyfish
Wolf Girl & Black Prince [no ranking, it just made me pretty mad]
I've been meaning to watch things like Space☆Dandy, Future Diary, Bakuman [which I partially read], and Bunny Drop [which I read and love].

I cant watch a lot of them either, so i get what youre saying, thats been a LONG time ago. I actually tried to watch robotech again a while back and it was really eighties and really cheesy so i didnt make it past the first episode. But during that time period it was amazing. I wonder in a few decades if well look back on these shows now and think the same thing?

Parasyte
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet
Linebarrels of Iron
Aldnoah Zero

Anime that's never been on Cartoon Network tends to be the best.

Toradora is one of my all time top favorites. And Princess Jellyfish was nice too but ended too soon. NaNa is another one of my top favorites too if you havn't read/watched that one yet.

A month or so ago, the kid and I tried to count all of the anime series we've watched. We gave up after we hit 200. I don't think I have a favourite, even if I broke it down into genres. It's easier to talk about things I don't get into- for example, I don't enjoy Basilisk. It's just too sad and bloody. I usually like things that have light moments. I mean, violence is great (that sounds weird, but you know what I mean), but I like to have a few minutes where things are just funny and/ or mushy.

I have an extensive collection of animes. I watch them in Japanese with subtitles for the most part as I dislike the dubbing and daft plots they switch for North American audiences.

My first taste of anime came in the form of Simba the white lion, Starblazers ( use to watch before school) and Speed Racer.

favorites include Vampire D, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal
Berserk,Cowboy Bebop,UC Gundam Series - Gundam 0079, Zeta Gundam, Char's Counterattack,Macross,Rose of Versailles,The Vision of Escaflowne,Neon Genesis Evangelion, Hellsing,Trinity Blood to name a few lol.

So yeah I am animeohlic lol.. Bright Blessings and keep watching..
