"Jive to My Sneakers" Poetry Contest by "CONVERSE"
All entries must be in by August 15, 1975.
Naturally, I never mailed mine.
I wake up in the morning
And I shower and I dress
My cut-offs are uneven
And my hair looks like a mess
But I have no need to worry
Do you really think I should?
I'm wearing Converse All Stars
And they make me look real good!
I grab a bite for breakfast
And I rush out of the door
Hey Sneakers! Are you ready?
There's a lot I have in store
While waiting for my other friends
I'll go to Kenny's yard
And concentrate on hook shots
And practice mighty hard.
The day is speeding by me
And I'm proud of what I've done
I'm feeling like a superstar
And think I look like one
Maybe I'll become a pro
Basketball may be my fate
But in the meantime,
I'll just say
Dear Converse--YOU ARE GREAT!
