If I delete a PM that I *sent* is it deleted on the recipient's end as well?

No, it works much like your email folders where it just keeps a copy of the message you sent. Deleting it should send it to your Trash Can where it will sit and need to be deleted again.

I wish you could uncheck the Save a Copy: save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder. option by default as they just accumulate in your Sent folders if you don't keep on top of them, plus you can't delete them all at once. 
There are times it's a good thing it does that. You can bulk deleted a whole page at a time by clicking the top box on the right hand side. If you don't know that already, it checks the entire page in one click.
