Been Invited for wedding

so my gf is taking me to her friends wedding today i am guy that has allot of low self esteem (you can read my previous posts) this is going to be my first time attending a wedding in America since 2009.
all she told me is that its NOT formal wedding can anyone PLEASE suggest what i should wear?

I would suggest maybe some khakis or another type of nice pants and a nice button up shirt.
