Anyone know anything about Art Institute? is it a good college? will I be able to find a job once i get out? tuition is hella expensive. How is their reputation? Im going to Art Institute Orange County next week for visual game development. time to do something with my life instead of getting ridiculously high all day.

I don't know anything about art institution but yeah vedio game development is cool.

Blender is a freeware you can download . It's neat for designing games or visual effect.

FMS is also a freeware. It's an R/C simulation...but being a freeware you can go into
the software and experiment. it taught me alot about the basics of vedio games designs
or how they work. MQO is also another 3D cad software you can download. You can
use it to design 3D models. FMS helped me alot in uvxyz mapping or how to create
a world or sceneries for vedio games. You can also download the lastest upgrade for
directX. Gimp is also another art/images freeware. it's like photoshop.
example i can sue gimp the resize the .gif files...(my avatra).
Dogweaver is a sort of software to can use to design animation vedio.

If you google skybox..you might get a general idea how vedio games world are created.
If you google equirectangular, you'll get a general idea how those vitual tour cam are created.

All the people who got all those game degrees ended up screwed. If you are going to go, get something a little more transferable to other fields. Maybe in addition to what you want to do. Not that I'm saying you'll fail, but trust me, having a contingency plan could very well make or break you one day.

well, the "visual game programming" is not only games. I also get to learn graphic design and such. meaning that I will not only be able to find jobs that are game oriented, i can also find jobs sch as graphic deisgn artist or doing only software development. meaning i have choices, not only doing games. however, this is what they told me and from what i see in my schedule... nothings certain i guess.

You can try loading Bryce. It' sort of like Blender but people use it to design those sci-fi wall papers.
If you enjoy art , graphic design or design games ...Do what you love.
I think you're making a positive chioce in your life.
I stopped smoke weed at a young age.

Here's what I did to FMS. It dosn't come like this.

ya blender is KICKASS. thanks for the info. i need more prog like this to screw around with.

Gimp is also a Free art/images software.

You can also get Terragen for free. It's a 3D terrain generator.
But i think Bryce is better or more detailed.

There's also more expensive software, but at least with these
freeware you'll get to practice.

You can download AC3D and 3DS...they both have 30 days try out. So you can mess with it.
Games such as Dooms use 3DS.

You can also dowwload the latest and greatest DirectX from
windows. Some games use directX.
The lastest upgrade will allow you to view variouse image files
or convert them from DDS type files or veiw 3D Cad files in .X files formate.

will heck yeah..you can go work in the film industry even. Lots of
special effects in films or work for a book publicher even.
Someone has to design the book covers or lay out all the images
in a book. Or any type of marketing firm or working in the
marketing department ...advertising, making commercial...etc.
Corporations pays or hire someone to design logos alot of money.
They put so much reserch and developement just into a single
logo. Heck you can even go work for GM or Ford in the designing
department. There's many posisiblities.
Heck you can even go work for NO Fear..they make new designs
for stickers and T-shirts or whatever product they sell all the time.
