It might sound odd but I sort of need to feel that someone out there understands something that happened to me recently.
I broke my violin.
Not on purpose, obviously. It just - broke. It's unfixable.
Which has left me, effectively, grieving for an instrument. My family have expressed their sympathies but they don't understand. Neither of them play anything. Neither of them have something that's so integral to how and who they are that it's absence is an undefinable but absolute loss.
Yes - I can buy another one.
That's not the point.
The point is - THAT one - the one I've played with for LITERALLY most of my life is gone. Can never come back.
So... anyone out there understand that?
