Why SSA
Finished said:The old rules of socialism include the, "if you don't work, you don't eat." That's not part of the modern day rules. Besides, the US is in the midst of turning socialism and we never do things all the way. Instead the politicians pick and choose which parts and pieces benefit them and their constituents. The easiest way to control people is to make them dependent on you. So, government subsides continue to flourish and expand.
Generally, socialism means central control. Control being key. Goods and services are partly or fully regulated. The economy is planned out. This is what the politicians have been doing more and more. They are trying to plan out and control how every thing works including the stock (fraud) market. The US not only wants complete information on all of its citizens but everybody in the world. One current example of socialism in the US is that they are trying to do away with fossil fuels and are pushing alternative energy. They have been subsidizing solar energy big time for more then a decade even though it cannot replace fossil fuel energy. Texas has been a recent example of that. They switched to heavy wind reliance. Most of them have spent a week+ with no power during record cold temperatures. That's what happens with reliance on "green energy."
Capitalism, on the other hand, is free market. Free being key. The market decides how things are going to be run. Typically less expensive ways dictate the ways. The government is in the background paving roads, building national infrastructure, and protecting the country, as the US should be doing IMO. If oil becomes expensive and solar is cheaper then solar would become more dominate. Either way, the market would decide not some out of touch with reality politicians.

“A“ for knowing about and energy mess in Texas, A+ for writing the post. If we all knew facts as they are, opinions woul change. Unfortunately splintering of news sources and the volume of information available is keeping us further and further from consensus and real solutions.Since TropicalStarfish already decided to make a new thread to talk about "socialism" - which I'm thankful for cause I had the same idea - I'll only respond to the Texas energy business and then I'll leave it be since it requires yet another thread of its own.
20% of Texas' power comes from wind power and that took a dive during the cold weather, that is correct. But the thermal plants which provide most of Texas' power (47%) also took an even bigger dive because just like the windmills, many plants are not weatherized and there was no incentive to do that. The worst-case-scenario was surpassed, pipes froze all over the place and everything underperformed. Look at these nice charts. Furthermore, Texas runs its own isolated grid and is not subject to federal oversight and is largely dependent on its own resources (according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration).
i havent done it completely well, but ive been able to somewhat maintain not thinking about my own life.thoughts just bring me down making me sad and deoressed Trying not to think any thoughts at all. Is it possible
