My greatest hero is Sylvester Stallone and his Rocky.

A lot of people say that rocky is a macho guy-movie about boxing, which it kind of is, but it's SO MUCH more.

The Rocky character has given me inspiration and motivation to go on more times than i can remember.

That quote can tell me stuff like no matter how dark things might seem, how hopeless and lonely you feel, You are strong enough to go through it, and things will get better.

Also, there's stuff like: "Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." Which was said by Arnold Schwarzenegger. And yes, many people think of Arnold as a macho prick, but really, read that sentence again. I think it's great! It's (at least to me) truth.

That reminds me of a similar Russian saying that may have originated from the same source (or Stalin just restated it and made it his own...as he had a habit of doing so every now and then):
