I wish I fell in love with history earlier, but the Australian national curriculum for the history subject was an accumulation of wasteful propaganda. Let us not forget the heroes of war time. Talk about an identity crisis for our little continent, 200 years young.
I mean, didn't they say, Those who forget history is doomed to repeat it?
I sure as hell made a lot of mistakes in my life.
So, clearly in our interests, we should be reading about how messed up we are and why we shouldn't be going there, AGAIN. In retrospect. And ofcourse, for a heavy laugh...
