Just thought I would share these :p Idk if its available for anything else :p

Adblock Plus - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

I have found Adblock to be a useful extension. The other one i have never used. At a quick glance i can't really tell what it is but it seems to be along the line of AVG's LinkScanner.

Yes its exactly like avgs link scanner but much better cos it wont make firefox slow like avg does as its just a 1 mb extension and in this, its actually people like you and me who are rating the sites so you would actually know most of the websites that if they are bad or good and contains harmful content. I ended up downloading it after I uninstalled avg.

That would be good because the first thing i did was turn off AVG's LinkScanner and the toolbar. I don't know if i am comfortable with John Doe evaluating it for harmful content. Is there some way that i would know that it isn't his site or that he is competent to make that judgment?

Thanks, i will keep that in mind the next time AVG is giving me fits.

Ah, maybe this is why FF has been running like a dog for me since I downloaded the latest version.

Are you referring to the latest version of AVG or of Firefox?

Oh okay. I also have been noticing a slowdown with the new version of Firefox.

This is what i recommend for you both. I personally find it better than AVG http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/

and the wot link scanner with it

and if you think you still dont have enough security, download this too http://www.filehippo.com/download_outpost_firewall/

I m using these and even with the 3 running, I still think its doesnt slow down your system like AVG does.

Others might have different opinions, as I said, its from what I have seen in my pc.

It's been really slogging. It's quite annoying; I have FiOs internet which is pretty damned fast, but I'm having trouble switching between tabs. Also I keep getting a lame error message when I open a new browser, saying "Well this is embarrassing," as it can't open the tabs from my old session. I don't even WANT them to. I just want to start fresh from my homepage. It's crashed on me twice in the past week, too. Grr.

Thanks, hon. I'll give these a try this weekend. :)

If you are saying that AVG slows down the current version of Firefox but was unable to slow down the last version? I noticed this slowdown when changing versions of Firefox, not because of a change in AVG.

No I meant AVG slows down whole system. Again its just my experience

That very well could be but what ever slowdown it may have been doing was no problem for me and not even enough for me to notice. It was just with the change to the current Firefox that the internet got sluggish. That seems to imply that the particular problem that i am seeing is related to that version of Firefox.

lol that I dont know lol, I havent noticed if you are talking about 3.6

Actually it is 3.5.6 where it changed for me. While i normally don't feel that i have to have "the latest and greatest" now i am torn between seeing if 3.6 improves things for me and avoiding it out of the fear that i will be bogged down even more by it.

its nothing great and i dont see much difference other than when u click tabs in a link it opens next to the tab like for eg: if there are like 7 tabs open, if you right click a link in 2nd tab and open it as new tab, the tab opens as an 8th tab in the very end in 3.5, but in this if u open a new tab from 2nd tab, it opens as 3rd tab. Other than that, i dont see any difference, and I dont see any performance difference either.

Looking around i see a number of people complaining of a slow down and apparently frozen tabs starting around v3.5 but then who knows, if i checked older versions maybe i would see the same comments there too.

It is a perfect information that clears all my doubts and gives a clear idea regarding that. It is really advantageous for me.I would definably take the benefit of it. It is really a very good information. It is really advantageous and fruitful for me. I like to take advantage of it.
