Just curious and want to share some experience.

I'm a developer and work on a small project and have no experience exchange at work. And I really miss this possibility to discuss smth in a field. I can a specific language(not popular outside my country), a little bit .net a liltte bit python, a little bit front and just a few words c++(playing with arduino). But I want to progress. I feel like now I'm a coder, not a developer yet so can't discuss smth difficult.
I'm curious about all IT, not only coding.

You're wasting your time in this networking section of the forum. It gets next to no foot-fall. I've tried posting here in the hope of building some connections and got absolutely nowhere.

My time is not so valuable ) But probably you're right, not so many people would like to discuss a work with a stranger.

I'm not extensively into coding. C and Java would be Greek and Latin to me. My knowledge revolves around data querying and manipulation mostly. I used to be in IT too. I saw your thread the same day you posted it. However, I didn't post here because my responses to private messages or posts maybe delayed incase if you decide to connect with me. Also I think my knowledge is pretty much limited, and you being a developer means you have more exposure and experience than me. It'd be like a noob (me) talking to a pro. Honestly, I didn't want you to waste your time by talking to me because there will be 0 productivity for you. Just posted now so that you won't be discouraged. There are a lot of people here who are into the same field as you. I hope they do come out.

Thank you for posting!
I'm not so good developer and data querying and manipulation sounds cool, I'd like to know more if you like to tell. Also I'm interested in general how other IT-teams work, not exactly in code-discussion. May be in dicussing anything in fact, computer is just the thing I know and can discuss.
P.S. And anyway talking to people can't be wasting of my time and I'm not waiting for the responds immediately(I also delay) or whenever so I'm glad to any response.

I have PMed you cos I don't want to mention specifics about my worklife in a public thread. You can take your time and respond.

I work in IT, but, like already said, I'm not too thrilled about talking about work on a public forum. I try and keep forum life and "real" life separate.

Plus, if anyone has successfully networked here, it would be nice to know. I see a lot of attempts, but maybe connections get made over PMs?

For me, this place has been almost useless for making friends.

I have had a similar experience, sadly. I instead have found a lot of knee-jerk reactions, assumptions and name-calling between a lot of the members. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people get driven away. I'm visiting and posting here less and less.

I thoroughly agree. Some of the regulars here make it feel too much like a private clique.

No! You are both wrong!!!!! Ha! ha! Just kidding. My posting has become just a dribble for those reasons and some others. The loudest ones are only supportive if they agree with what is being said. Sharing personal experiences seems to result in criticisms. So, I don't see a point in doing so any more.

Men on here who dare to complain about feeling lonely and their lack of a romantic life, are particular targets, I've noticed. If you're not allowed to vent about being lonely on a ******* LONELINESS forum, I don't know where you can expect to be able to do it.

I'm sorry but have you tried to get friends? I've got it as you're trying to get a gf(so I didn't answer to your thread)

You are allowed but there are different people everywhere and mods are not paid for keeping here anything, I suppose. I can say this because I was a mod(not here of course) and I din't have opportunity to read and react to all. And after all mods can leave one day and there are no mods anymore. I think all forums work so.

And I'm sorry but for example I feel as you think (I don't know was it meant or not, it's just an example and my feelings) like your loneliness is more lonely than mine. But even it is so does it mean it hurts me less then yours hurt you? I don't think so, so it could be a reason of some misunderstanding if I decide to defend my point of view. I just want to say maybe some people are not attacing but defending(at least they think so). I don't really know, it's just a thought.

P.S. I'm sorry if my words look agressive, I don't mean them to be, just my vocabulary is not wide and I don't feel some language nuances.

Why would I think your loneliness is lesser than mine? I don't know anything about your life.

I went to school for computer science, more for programming than IT... no job in that field yet though. :(

That's great, I think. What were you learning there? When did you go? You work in another field and want to change?
I'm sorry, so many questions, I'm so curious...

Programming is also a part of IT isn't it? At least here IT-field usually means almost everything computer-related (but IT-sepcialist usually is system administrator). How is it there?

@4No1

I was a computer science student too .
I know how to code
I have developed my own dynamic website once with Html , Javascript , Php and Mysql

And i like talking about stuffs in the IT field

^
That's cool, I've seen in one of the threads, that you're now in accounting, why so?

Talking about IT-stuff: I've just reinstalled my windows, it freezed randomly, it was so annoying. I was almost like an austronaut )
I just hope there was smth wrong with the drivers and now it will be OK. I also use Ubuntu but need Windows for my work.

@4No1

In India , After 10th grade ... we have plus 1 and plus 2 . My subject was computer science during those days and did a three year degree course on computer science again .I lost Numerical methods subject during those periods and was not able to get the complete computer science degree .

So i again joined another degree , this time it was a commerce degree . I completed that and i decided to do accounting because here accounting with an accounting software job is more easy to find than programming .

That is not all , i was only good with web programming and windows programming with languages like C++ required more learning and it was kinda of getting boring .

I use windows 10 mainly for my work and everything . I have an 8gb ram computer with SAP software installed
I am certified in Redhat linux , CCNA and MCITP too :)

Oops, I lost this topic(and time and myself and anything else)) so my answer is late. Sometimes it happens and it's like all my social skills freeze and I can't answer posts/pm/letters/whatever. Have no energy for it.

@Tobakki3 it's cool, sounds like a good professional. I'm also not fond of C++ as it's better for a lower level, I prefer C# and am quite fond of Python, it's just cool. I'm trying now to fix on one language and learn it better to be able to change a work.

Were you full stack in web programming? I have some problems with the front, js is strange and design is a mess for me, I know people prefer picture to the tables, but sometimes a love to the pictures is just ridiculous, like asking "can you make this picture animated". What for they need a background picture to be animated? There is no information in it at all.
