Whenever I load Discord, it just makes me feel more alone than usual. I have 1 person I talk to on any sort of regular basis, but most times it's just nothing at all. My anxiety keeps me from trying to meet new people, or joining channels, so I gave up on that. Even when I do try meeting new people it never works, most people might message me a few times then they disappear or simply lose interest. I know I'm not an interesting person, but it just seems that no one is even wiling to take the time to get to know me or accept me for who I am. I've had people just try throwing their Discord name at me to add them, but it rarely goes anywhere. In the past I liked to try messaging with people on sites like this and see if they would be someone I could really chat with, then potentially add them on Discord, but nowadays I'm too afraid to message anyone unless they do it first and even then it usually doesn't last. I opened it up earlier and saw nothing, so I just immediately closed it. I wonder why I even still use it, because most times when I even open it up I see there's nothing there and it just makes me feel so alone.

Does anyone else feel the same, or at least feel a similar way with Discord or even other things like it? It's getting so bad that even though I can't stand being alone, I just want to completely isolate myself and try to accept the loneliness because it seems to be all I can feel anymore.

this old man too late learned there are fates far worse than being alone. this aspie was in a relationship too late in life, but not too late to remind me that i seemingly wasn't genetically endowed to be anybody's proper mate, and it ended badly.

Yeah, I find the same thing, in a way, on all forms of social media. It seems to be a thing where you really have to have friends to make friends. I find that most people just won't even try to make an effort. Redit was suggested a few times, but I find it is exactly the same there. Huh, I think it is the same on here as well really.

I used to play video games, but that was long before discord was around. I stopped playing because of the shift away from single player games to everything being multiplayer, and I didn't have the friends to play with. Random matchmaking would often just be hours spent waiting for nothing, as people only wanted to play with people they already knew. I used to like playing, but yeah, just had nobody to play and share the games with.

i was hoping to find like-minds on the [discord] doll forum but it seems there's lots of snark there.

i would not have given it that name. but it is another kind of social media, sorta like a more edgy facebook.

Oh. This site is the closest thing to social media I use. I probably could have just looked it up. But I get lazy at night. Well....mostly at night

It's a chat room. Mostly geared toward gamers, but everyone uses it now, whether you are a gamer or not. It's what we use for the chat room here.

As a regular chat site Discord is fine. But when i use it and join servers the only thing i feel is isolation and loneliness...... Everyone on there seems to have an accomplished life and seems to know eachother....

i understand what you mean so i stopped using discord a long time ago.
