In my mind
I noticed my bandwidth is getting sucked up my much quicker lately. So, I turned on a browser extension to block popups and external links to see if that's part of the problem. Then I viewed one Amazon page. My extension blocked 253 links to other sites from that one page. WTF! The is crazy! Websites are linking to so many other things that isn't needed. It seems like every page links to Google analytics many times too. I think I might start looking for a browser that blocks everything except what I allow to go through. I'm really getting tired of embedded videos and music automatically playing even though I have selected manually accept videos and audio in my browser.

I've had my gmail open for what's been no more than a half hour, and an extension I use has blocked 175 things and counting and every time I switch back over it seems to jump up by at least 10. Sitting on this site that extension has blocked 5 things, but now if I switch back to gmail... it's at 194. That's just from sitting idle on the page too, I'm not loading into anything or even doing anything. So yeah it's pretty absurd all the things that are linked nowadays. Oh and the block count is up to 225 now.

This is why I feel no guilt blocking ads, and that kind of stuff.

Is it costing them money? Maybe. But their ads gum up my browsing experience. They don't care about that, so why should I care about them? Do what works for you. You might as well.

It's actually insane at this point. Best thing to do is use ad block plus along with a few more add-ons to stop trackers etc. I've been using Brave for a while now and it's blocked 1.4m ads/trackers so far apparently. Adguard for Windows is amazing though as well. But if you have a slow system prepare for the browser to be slower with the extra add-ons.

When I look at mine it says it's blocked 4.03m things... for fecks sake that's just too much. Then again I can't remember when I installed it, and I'm too lazy to look.
I think the annoying flashing banner ad's used to be the worst back in the good old das:ROFLMAO:
