I love the Danielewski siblings.
I love things that have dualistic meanings and are written ambiguously.
Almost all of Poe's first two albums is entirely lyrically written as a reference to House Of Leaves, Mark's book.
And so even though it sounds like a love song, if you've read the book, Johnny is, well, I mean, yeah, Johnny is kinda Chad, bbbuutttt you also feel sorry for the man, as you would in anyone for that situation.
Basically, Johnny's mind unravels throughout the story.
