It seems its a normal thing to do.
i wonder if anyone here find it hard and impossible to take a lie from anyone especially from significant other.
can a lying be a reason for divorce or leave any partership for that matter.
I personally cant take a lie but everyone i know do it like its a normal thing to do.

Lying is probably one of my biggest annoyances in this world. I don't really see the point in it, it doesn't change anything and it always comes out in the end.

Anything can be a reason for divorce, but what is he lying about? Trivial things or critical things? Have you talked to your spouse about it?

People lie because they are selfish. They want to either hide or gain something. Being honest comes at a price. Words probably aren't a good reason to get a divorce unless they are abusive. Actions are what really matters.

I'm not going to lie, I've lied through my teeth several times, even to family. Sometimes, it's just been to protect myself from potentionally embarrassing or sticky situations.

Lying never feels good to me. However, sometimes there is a downside to telling the truth and it isn't always worth it. In those instances I prefer to say nothing.

Self-honesty is what really matters to me. People don't always believe what you tell them anyway.

As a previous law enforcement officer contacting thousands of violators, I was surprised to learn how straight faced and often people will lie to protect themselves - same as a kid does to mom.  I've met people that will deny the truth even after I watch and describe in detail what they did.  Others will lie but come clean once their wrongs are revealed.

Some people lie so often that they do it compulsively for no reason; ie, when there is no right or wrong involved.  I can't understand such irrational behavior.

Many people lie just be nice; ie to not hurt or offend someone or because its easier than revealing a truth - like telling someone they're not fat when they ask or saying someone's not home for a call when they are.

Most of us have a moral code written on our conscience that condemns lying.  If we nurse that value with the objective morality of the Bible, it remains strong throughout our lives and builds character integrity.  If we base that value on cultural trends, it inevitably weakens with time and degrades our character integrity.  In either case, trust in any relationship requires honesty.  And I think that honesty generally outweighs being self protective or deceptively nice.  Tact is good though.  I could use more of that with my overt honesty that's gotten me into trouble at times.

I've found that it's WAY better just to be honest with law enforcement, at least for civil infractions. I even told them that what I did was stupid and I shouldn't have done it. I really wished I didn't. Many times they've let me go with just a warning because I was honest with them. I don't understand why so many believe if they lie they will get away with what they did wrong, at least for civil infractions where proof isn't necessary.

Then there are law-abiding citizens who run afoul of corrupt lying greaseball cops... don't forget them! I went through a 7-or-8-year ordeal of being falsely charged time and time again, and this is how that saga went down.

Some vandal punks started tearing up my elderly mom's property while I was looking after her: she was a military wife and mother for decades, and she had some serious medical issues in her 70s and 80s.

These vandal perps wouldn't leave us alone, and since I hail from a military family, I vigorously defended myself, my relatives, and our property. Every time something happened outside our home, the greaseball cops tried to pin the blame on me...

Even though we wanted NOTHING to do with the punks, the cops, any of it. I never got along with the cops, and they constantly hassled me for parking an 18-wheeler in a crowded seaside community, even though that was where I lived and I had no other place to park the truck.

When I learned they were going to do nothing about the vandal punks, even after my friends at the surf shop helped me identify those punks, I started writing letters to the DOJ in Washington. Waste of time, since that shithole is also corrupt as fresia... in fact, these letters made things worse.

Fake charges were thrown my way: some punk filed a false report with the greaseball cops (supposedly a felony in itself), crying that I said I was going to kill him. The 'criminal threat' statute, what greaseball cops use when they have nothing else on ya...

Those fake charges went clear to a jury trial, wherein I defended myself and put the punk on the stand, where he changed his story half a dozen times before a 'jury of my peers.' Full acquittal followed, but it was still malicious prosecution and a criminal waste of public funds.

The scrub queer D.A. who routinely protected the lying greaseball cops was part of the problem... I went through two more rounds of fake charges, shooting down the second round before it went to trial, and forcing a mistrial in the third round before reaching a plea agreement.

Throughout this unwanted ordeal, I was publicly bashing the corrupt p.o.s. cops on the web, and as a published writer I also helped shoot down the crooked scrub queer D.A.'s bid to become Mayor of San Diego. Sweet payback, but that wasn't all I did...

I put the punks out of business---turned out those unlocal kooks did the towing for the cops, which explained why they were never charged, despite their stalking, harassment, felony ******* vandalism, etc. They actually destroyed an Oldsmobile, and Oldsmobiles are tough cars.

So I enlisted the help of my friends from the surf shop, and they spread the word across town about the perp trash... the towing douchebags also ran some rathole garage, and who in his right mind takes his or her car to be serviced by documented liars?

'How To Fail In Business, 101'---piss off an old school local whose best friend's family runs the oldest surf shop in town, lol. Last I heard, the punks were $100K behind in their lease payments before their business tanked.

Still, I had six months of my life ripped off for something that NEVER EVEN HAPPENED, just LIES on paper, 10-4? Here's how that worked: the greaseball cops & crooked D.A. threw down the third round of fake charges, arrested me and immediately jacked my bail to half a million dollars.

So there I was, not even proven to be innocent or guilty yet, and I'm locked up for six months while waiting for my hearings... all part of that jailhouse funding scam which costs taxpayers BILLIONS, $10K or more per month for each so-called inmate.

That was another issue I constantly addressed in letters to the DOJ and scumbags Holder & Obama, but of course my time was wasted. Swamp rats aren't interested in justice, only profit. Traitorous trash couldn't care less about Constitutional rights...

The weirdest thing about this whole Twilight Zone episode: even hardened thugs and murderers asked me what I was doing in jail, lol. I didn't fit the profile, you see: no record to speak of, not a drop of ink, just another falsely-imprisoned guy trying to mind his own business.

When I told them I was fighting the corruption of the very same D.A. who put them all in jail, they left me alone and let me do my thing. Some of those guys were in jail for all the wrong reasons too... one old man suffered from Alzheimer's and didn't even know where he was, money in the bank for those running the jailhouse funding scam.

Long story short: just because some lying scumbucket wears a badge and uniform, that doesn't make the ******* pure as the driven snow. There's HELLER CORRUPTION in many police departments, especially in the Socialist Republik of KaliMexifornia, that seaside ghetto.

Best thing a law-abiding citizen can do is avoid all lying greaseball cops like the ******* PLAGUE that they are... and I say that as a former USA INF soldier from a family with 2 CDRs, USN Submarine Service, a USAF colonel, various enlisted personnel, et al.

My family has a long & honorable history of service to this country, more and better service ever given by any corrupt lying p.o.s. greaseball cop or D.A., that's for GODDAM sure. If you think cops are here to protect & serve, think again... more like harass & intimidate, lol.

My personal hypothesis is that many of these 'badge bullies' were beaten up in high school, or otherwise publicly shamed, and now they sport a badge & gun in some warped effort to get payback. No wonder so many people are railing about corrupt police nowadays...

A LIAR WITH A BADGE... THE WORST KIND OF LIAR THERE IS, NEXT TO CORRUPT D.A.s AND OTHER SCUMBAG POLITICIANS.

I'M JUST THANKFUL THAT I LIVE IN RURAL ARIZONA NOW, WHERE PERSONAL FREEDOM & CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS STILL EXIST... END OF STORY.

Thanks for sharing that.

Why do people lie... For as many reasons as there are people on the planet. I've lied too but I'm so darn bad at it that I decided to stick to the truth. Plus, that way I don't have to work my mind overtime trying to keep my lies in order and no extra energy spent while talking trying to hold back some truth that'd bring the whole house of cards down.
I have to say that being truthful isn't an easy thing but it gets easier quickly. A trade-off from that is a slight lack of a filter but it's also helped me form good bonds with friends, neighbors, and the local police.
Lies and treachery. Two things I abhor.

^ Yep. Lying takes too much effort. It's sooooo much easier just to be honest. I only have to remember events that happened, what I said, and what others told me. I don't have to remember what lies I told different people, the reasons why, and who else knows which lies. :)

I abhor lying generally

But I do it on these occasions

If it’s somebody I don’t like if they request something.

If it’s to do something that isn’t wrong but another would disapprove of.
