The nice thing about the above, play on a motivational poster, is that, that fork could be fixed pretty easily. It'll still be slightly bent out of shape, but perfectly useful.

The Universe isn't, 'useful.'

What's the use..

You really think not? It contains every thing known and unknown. That seems at least a little useful to me.

And it’d be much easier to just replace the bent fork, IMHO. I just try my best to not get bent.

What we should ask is how did it get bent. What traumas is it going to endure because of it. How are those other forks going to respond to it. Do they help to get back on its tines? Or do they find it an easy target and crush its dignity even more.

No, I don't think so, at least from a certain perspective, I think it's favorable not to think of The Universe in such a way. The Universe just kind of is. It's not a, 'thing.' Things are ultimately concepts. A fork is a fork to you and me; but, to an ant, who knows what it is, or what use it may or not have.

Things can be useful, yes. If they are known things. If they are unknown things, they may become useful, or might not.

It might be easier to replace the fork, sure. I'm not a fan of Planned Obsolescence. But that's part of the, Story of Stuff.

In my experience, people who often like to espouse their virtue of being thick skinned or not easily bent out of shape, are usually the ones doing the most bending, scratching, and clawing; thus their self-congratulations.

And other times, it's just some one taking things too seriously. :)

Can't have snow without a few snowflakes, though... :)

Sometimes a fork is just a fork.
