i'm not sorry because
i live a sorry life
but because i feel
as if i say 'sorry'
all the time.

3 inches from my own face
the love of my life would
say her very last words
to me.

3 hours, 42 minutes, and 3 seconds
later she would be gone.

"Sorry."
thats all i could say,
its all i ever can say
when nothing else
is to be said.

i know that she expected me
to say something like,
"ok, ill stop" but thats
something i could never give her.

last night was the first time
i had been held as i cried.
it had been 2 months,
10 minutes, and 49 seconds
sense i got the phone call.

out in the snow, on the
curb, in the dark.
my cut up jeans, her favorite
shirt,my jack purcells, my hoody,
and a bottle of cheap vodka.

she held me for all that i had lost,
she held me for all of my tears,
she held me for everything
and everyone that is
now nothing!
NOTHING!

This is an awesome work of poetry--it is so deep and emotional. It gave me chills because it sounds so much like the tragedy of my husband and I and how he passed away.

Is your poem based on an incident of true feelings...what inspired you to write this, may I ask? I would like to know more about it, if you wouldn't mind sharing it with me.
