How "good" are you with alcohol?

I'm incredibly good with alcohol, which is incredibly bad, for both my health and my wallet. I don't drink very often, maybe once a month, but it's almost like I'm immune to it, beer anyway. It's not unknown for me to spend £80 on a night out and still go home feeling pretty much fine, maybe high end of tipsy. If I could drink straight spirits I don't think I'd have such a problem, but my body rejects anything stronger than 20% without a mixer.

Being the fat, socially awkward teen, when it was discovered I could handle my drink, that became my in road. People would be amazed at how I could drink 3 or 4 pints in the time that they could drink one. The very reason that I can't do straight spirits anymore is that at 16 I drank a whole bottle of whiskey in about 20 minutes (whole bottles were not unusual, the speed was) along with 7 or 8 pints of Guiness afterwards. My body remembers that night and won't let me do it again.

Last time I got properly drunk was probably in March/April time. I enjoy a Southern Comfort and coke, so I figured I'd have a couple of glasses whilst watching a film at home. I was enjoying myself and finished off the whole bottle. For some reason that night it worked.

Being an even more overweight, even more socially awkward adult now, I find I can't be around people without drinking. I've tried socialising completely sober, I get bored after 20 minutes and because I take my car to make sure I don't drink, I just think sod it and drive home. If I'm drinking in a social environment, even if it's just a couple of beers, it gives me a purpose for being in that setting, or else I feel I don't belong.

If I drink now to enjoy myself, as in enjoy the taste and the experience of the drink, I have real ale, only a couple, because I truely enjoy them. If I'm out I'll drink alot of different stuff, desperately trying to reach that point of confidence that never seems to come.

So, my relationship with alcohol, probably very bad. My ability to tolerate alcohol, stupidly good, which is eternally annoying. I wish I could be one of those people who's set for the night after 3 or 4 beers, you lightweights don't know how lucky you are.

That sucks Pariah. It's good that you were able to leave behind that unhealthy habit tough.

I can drink alcohol like water. And very rarely does it make me drunk.

But I don't drink a whole lot, so I guess it evens out... or something.
