I don't really need advice, just want to blow off steam.
I could quite happily stay in my house all night and be perfectly happy, but I do like to be social sometimes, given the chance - the opportunities are few and far between.
So I was looking at Meetup.com, and I have odd tastes in music so I usually go to gigs on my own, but I am always aware of the people who are there as couples and in groups and it does sometimes make me sad that I'm there on my own with nobody to share it. Anyway I saw a band I quite like, not a massive fan of, but they're OK, and someone had organised a meetup at this gig, saying they had nobody to go with either, so in a spurt of enthusiasm I thought I would give it a go and RSVPd and got my ticket and it was today.
There were only a few of us, one friendly chap was going to meet me at the train station and walk down with me, but he pulled out sick at the last minute. I asked if there was a rendezvous point twice on the group, in advance, nobody replied, the organiser didn't ever post again actually - anyway one of the members posted that he was in a blue shirt in the bar, so I went and trawled around the bar and there were no blue shirts.
So I went into the performance hall and it turned out the place had 3 different bars, I still didn't see anyone in a blue shirt but it was dark, and then I lost my internet signal, so I ended up standing on my own for the gig anyway - then on the way out I saw this person in a blue shirt laughing and joking with a couple of other people and wondered if he was the same one but by then I just wanted to get home.
Got my signal back outside, and nobody had followed up the comments from earlier, but I posted to express my displeasure at people who couldn't organise a meetup in a music venue, FFS...
I sometimes don't think I am destined to socialise offline, apart from my running group, but whenever I start enjoying that they start changing it to do harder activities where you don't have enough breath left to talk :club:
