Seeing there are plenty of poem enthusiasts in this place. I decided to throw in a poem of my own which I wrote about 2-3 years ago.

Walk Away ~

An old familiar woman walked up to me. "Remember this", is what she said
In her opened palm a ring: "Let it go , what you're holding on to is dead."
At first I stubbornly refused to believe that she could be right.
But as I looked at the ring, I noticed its sparkle had ran out of bright.

And she walked away, walked away.

Leaning against a wall, a girl's smile got lost in shade.
From a distance, I eagerly stared and wished to aid.
To illuminate her beautiful face, if only I had brought a light.
Perhaps if instead I gave her my heart, but it had ran out of bright.

And I walked away, walked away.

Memories of her were chasing me along the way.
Memories that haunt me, memories that begged me to stay.
Memories that made me wish we gave this one last fight.
Memories she has as well, but her will had ran out of bright.

And she walked away, walked away.

"But what about this love", is what I said to an aging man conversant with what had passed.
And as the familiar woman crossed us with a wink he grinned: "Well most things are not meant to last"
The woman walked off never to be this close again, still she would always remain in sight.
And at that point I had figured it out. Our love wasn't gone, it had just ran out of bright.

And now, I will walk away, walk away.

It is about moving on and acceptance. It's actually based on an obscure dream I once had. It happens in a fictive place where present and future are twined. And in that way it tries to show how a relation between two people gradually gets redefined over time.
