Longing for love despite knowing it's the worst thing I could do right now

As some of you know I'm nearly finished with my ex wife. I left her after 10 years of a loveless, intimacyless (we slept in seperate rooms ffs!) and horrendous relationship in March last year. The divorce came through in January and the house is nearly sold which will sever all ties with her...

Who is lonely in the UK?

Yay UK represent! I'm 35 male, recently divorced, living in the south Birmingham area - ready to start life again from scratch. I tried to organise a UK Meetup Last year (ALLFest!) which was pretty successful so it would be good if we could do it again?

    Meetup.com - a success :)

I hope so too, good luck :) My confidence must have improved a lot because I wore makeup to a club for the first time and loved every second :D

    Lets see the Faces!!!

Thanks :) I have neglected this place lately but I've had so much going on with the divorce etc I've pretty much used up all my energy. I forget to post things, struggle to read some other stories etc. I do enjoy being here and made some good friends so I should make a point of visting more.

    Meetup.com - a success :)

Thank you :) Unfortunately the homeless thing didn't take off but I'm still in the group so hopefully will get to help at some point. Going indoor climbing tonight, then several coffee and meal meetups, going to see Deadpool and Comic Con Midlands too! :D

Anyone else out there so single they just want to scream???

I've just come out of a marriage - well, march last year was the day I realised I had enough. Been single ever since, and had nobody before her to speak of. Since then I've battled my emotions, loneliness, the need for human comfort, the fact that I'm, essentially, a virgin aged 35 (despite...

    Here goes nothing :)

Also the first song to learn to play is the intro to Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple - it's an unwritten rule ;)

    Meetup.com - a success :)

Further meetups, I've been to Comic Con (and Cosplayed so that was a massive step forward with my Social Anxiety - people wanting their photo with me because I went as Reno from Final Fantasy 7) I've been to Botanical Gardens, Museums, bars and clubs, markets and even a chocolate festival! I've...

The UK is a hostile place for single over 30's

To be fair Male suicide is a big deal and one has been sorely overlooked in the UK (men's health receives a fraction of what women's health services do but that's a debate for another day) I am a man in my mid 30s in England and frankly I've never found it to be hostile at all towards me. It...

    intro

Sorry that you feel so lonely that you don't want to live anymore - please don't let it get to that stage. You've made a big step by joining this site so congratulations on reaching out :) Have a look at meetup.com - see if there's a group in your local area that you are interested in and go...

    Questions for the Men

Walk tall and straight, be kind and smile, help people and pay them genuine compliments. That's a long way from cocky in my opinion. The irony of it all of course is that the cocky people are most likely more scared than we are - they've just developed a better social camouflage

    Rejection Experiment

While I applaud any attempt at self improvement and confidence building (hell I've had to do that myself enough times) are you not putting yourself at risk of a Self Fulfilling Prophecy - so when you do meet someone you like, your brain will be so conditioned to accept rejection that you might...

Men are still expected to pay for the first date

I guess I'm a bit old fashioned and I pay for the meal on a first date, and offer to pay if it's a female friend. No reason other than basic chivalry and gentlemanly conduct I guess. My Dad raised me to be a gentleman and I enjoy fulfilling that role despite it being a bit outmoded these days...
