normalness

Ok so I am wondering how normal everyone thinks they are. i have been thinking aboot this a lot since i got back to school,since there is no doubt that I am very much not normal, but I cant put my finger on what makes me different? I mean obviously doing weird stuff makes you weird, but it seems like if you were normal in the first place, you wouldnt wnat to do weird stuff? SO yeah...rambling over...poll time on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being john doe and 1 being gollum, how normal would you say you are? Given the nature of this forum,i would expect most people to answers on the high side,but realistically be more in the middle.

I breathe air, I have the regulation amount of limbs and digits, I bleed red, got a working digestive system.

Qualifies as 100% normal a far as I'm concerned.

I voted 5, Cos I am normal in a lot of ways, what ever normal is? But compared to everyone else in the world, God do I have to compare to the rest of the world? well, I don't honestly know anyone that is normal. I disagree that doing weird stuff makes you weird. But I don't work or have a GF and I am 33 so to live on my own at that age and for as long as I have already I would say is not normal for most ppl. I really don't care about fitting in but just to have a life that I like. If that life is not normal then so what. But I am normal in a lot of ways also. my life maybe very different to most ppl in the world cos I live alone and do not work but I still crave love and I like good food and drink. So Even though my life is not normal I do crave normal things.

I'm odd, no doubt about it, yet I am so normal and average that I am often a rather forgettable individual. I guess I'll say 6 on your poll.

normal is relative.... to weird people weird is normal.

I don't believe anyone is "normal" ... personally, I think of myself (and everybody else) as unique.

What exactly makes you folks any more strange than any other miscellaneous person?

i think a good definition of normal is simply the majority of the population. Think about it if 90% of the population had 3 arms they would think us 2 armed people were just plain odd. a weird habbit would just be something most people don't do whether it's very loud and sudden yelling of the states and capitals or wrting your notes in glow in the dark ink.

I put 6 because well I know that there is no real definition for the word normal, some people consider the word "normal " differently, so 6 is like being an average person.

I mean what really is normal? breathing, being human, that counts, but who we are as a physical entity... what is normal? hard to say isnt it?

I chosed 4. Now when I think about it though, I have no idea why. I've never tried to be weird in any way. I think I just come across as weird since I'm a pretty open guy, and I can have a pretty silly sense of humor. Does that make me weird? Maybe I should've selected 10, and called all the "normal" people weirdos ^^

yeah, as far as the definition of normal goes...it seems to me its one of those things thats not defined so much by what it is as by what it isnt. While its difficult to say if someone is "normal" its notso difficult to say if they arent. If you see someone that runs around with no pants on, singing "we all live in a yellow submarine at the top of their lungs all the time, you would immediatly recognize that as weird. Thats an extreme example, of course, but the idea is the same.
