In a dark pit somewhere...
My soul racked with guilt
I'm torn between two
My mind plagued with puzzles
Like 'why did dad leave you?'

To fend for ourselves
Alone in the cold
No arms to embrace us
No lovers to hold

Fo awhile it seemed
You would always bet here
Hearing my cries
And feigning your care

But as time flew by
You began to decline
Lapping heavily at Satan's well
Your anger grew defined

With tiny hands bunched into fists
I watched the bruises form
Wanting to help but hiding, scared
As you threw my mother onto the flooor

Trying hard to escape to sleep
But kept awake by stinging sobs
My pillow soaked with now cold tears
Jumping at every turn of the knob

Mother walks in, haloed by light
The color of her bruises deep
Holding me close, protected from shadows
United by pain, together we weep.

Isn't poetry amazing man? Such a great way to express how you're feeling.

I like stanza 4.
