I didn't know which "Issues" area to post this thread.

I want to rant about my mean neighbors in my area. I live next to another house, and my folks and I are okay with them. We say hi sometimes, and I even make efforts to sweep the sidewalk in front of their house, and the guy sweeps all the leaves and trash from the "other-mean" neighbors.

Now the real MEAN neighbors surrounds the back and other side of our property, and it's a small condo residential area. Crappy two-story studio units with some crack-heads living there, prostitutes/escorts, druggies, and even the property manager is a psycho path who wanted to assault me today!

To make a long story short, a lot of the residents dislike me and my parents, because they tend to make a lot of noise at night, and we call the police on them. Heck, in fact recently last week, I had to call the police three times because each time the police officer left the noisy/raucous unit, the loud laughter and screams would erupt again. I believe the police officer, on his third visit to the crap unit, told them if they continued to make loud noise, they would be given a noise/disturbance citation. By the time those animals and their friends left the place, it was already 4AM. Sh-t, I had to work 7AM that following morning, and I work a 12-hour shift, from 7AM to 7:30PM (1/2 hour break).

Not only do they make loud noises, but some of the jerk residents deliberately smoke their cigarettes in front or nearby our house, because they know that I have asked them to smoke elsewhere, or a little further away because my mother is asthmatic to cigarette smoke. They also throw a lot of their cigarette butts in front of our house.

The big contention that we have with the neighboring condo property though, is their large overgrown trees. They have five super duper large overgrown monkey pod trees, and the leaves and bean pods from the trees
clog up our rain gutter, damaged my minivan's air conditioner motor (which I successfully sued the condo property board members in small claims court this past February, and got around $800 for the damage and court filing fees) and litter our yard. I spend hours, every other day, or whenever I have the time to sweep the front of our house (since I'm working a lot more these days,...need to pay student loans!).

We have been trying to get the board members to cut the large tree branches. Guess what? They did hire tree trimmers this past March to trim the branches. But only did a half-ass job, where there are still a lot of large branches overhanging our property.

Today, my mother walked up to the property maintenance manager (more like a welfare-laden thug), and showed him her eyes, because bugs and small tiny insects from the overgrown tree may have caused her eyes to itch and swell up this morning. I saw her eyes, and it was bad!
Anyhow, the property maintenance manager began to raise his voice and get irate at my mother.

I actually did not know she came home, as she went to work at her beauty shop this morning. I thought the property maintenance dimwit was arguing with one of the condo residents. I then went to my bedroom window, and saw my mother near the condo swimming pool, talking to that loser, while the loser maintenance manager was yelling and raising his voice at my mother. I then yelled out my window to loser his voice.

He then got irate and told me to come out of my house so that he can "kick my ass."
He even began to walk away from my mother, and began walking towards the entrance door to my house. I could care less if he was 3 inches taller than me. If he did knock me out, I would have loved to sue the living sh-t out of him, and the condo property board members for assault and medical bills.

Anyhow, this is the kind of sh-tty neighborhood and life that I live in.
Mean condo residents, making noise, smoking cigarettes near my house, litering their cigarette butts in front of my house, parking their vehicles in front of my house, etc.

Your condo neighbours sound appalling. What about your other neighbours, both the ones next door who are ok and any others in your street? Could you all get together to form some sort of residents committee to tackle the problems being caused by the people living in the condos, as these problems must be affecting everyone in the vicinity? It doesn't seem fair that you and your folks are having to do all the complaining and thus getting all the flak from them. Maybe if you had a substantial group behind you for support, this might make the condo's residents think twice about playing loud music at night and throwing cigarette ends down in front of your house.
It would also be easier to sort out the tree problem if you had greater support.

OMG, Nomad, I just looked up Monkey Pod Tree. That is one big effing tree! And they have 5 and they are overgrown? Unbelievable! They grew these on condo property? They look like they belong in an open parkland!

What you have to put up with! Ugh.

Hey Tiina, thanks for your response and empathy with these jerk condo neighbors. Not all of them are bad people. But a good handful are wicked to the bone, and same goes for the manager, who these days, hide out in his unit, keeps his door closed and windows closed.

The other good neighbor who lives in the house adjacent to us, is just too chicken scared to confront the condo. In fact, the lady who lives next door complained to the new manager (he was new, as he moved in last year in June) about the swimming pool motor noise, as the manager or the auto-clock turns on the swimming pool drain/filter motor at 6AM or 7AM. The neighbor is still asleep at that time. However, I can't really hear the noise from the swimming pool motor since our house is slightly away from that area. Anyhow, the lady told the manager about the motor, and the manager just told her to "f--- off" and he threatened to call the police on her for "trespassing" on his condo property. *shakes head*

The other neighbors around her are basically other condo properties.

Let me tell you, other managers of other condos in the area, are "buddy buddy" with the board members of the troublesome condo on the left/right (depending on which way you look) of our house.

In fact, one of the previous condo managers who moved out (manager of the troublesome condo) was very good buddies with another condo manager in the neighborhood. He basically left and moved away because of the hassle dealing with our complaints of the overgrown trees, and the board members of the property not wanting to listen to him, and our complaints/concerns.

So basically, my family and I are the lone black sheeps who get picked on, by the adjacent dirty condo.

In fact these days, I see a lot more residents deliberately have their friends drop them off in front of our house. That's okay. It's just that there were times in the past where the driver was not in the car, and either I or my mother who drives, could not enter our drive-way or exit our drive-way because of a car parked right on the street, in the back of our cars.

The condo across our house, meh, I don't know what happened to their manager. I think he moved away, because I haven't seen that guy for a long time.

Anyhow, I am thinking about moving away from my city/town for better job opportunities, if I don't get selected for a residency program come August.

That way, I don't have to deal with these sh-theads, as well as spending my afternoons sweeping up the leaves and pollen/flower buds from the monkey pod tree.

Can you get on on the board of trustees? I am on mine only because someone left and they needed to fill the space so they just said, send in your paperwork, and I was the only one.

I hate my fellow board members. You can't get much done when you are one of three and the two of three are jerks.

I have awful neighbors also.

There is a house directly behind us who throws backyard parties sometimes multiple nights per week. They have a loud sound system in the backyard, they invite 20-30+ people, they even bring a DJ occasionally. The parties can go on until 3am. My dad called the police for years but the cops don't even do anything. Now if we try to call, they tell us at least 3 neighbors total need to complain before they send anyone out. As far as I know, we're the only ones who ever complain because they are directly behind us and we suffer the most noise. The husband or wife who lives there has a brother who is a cop.

The house right next to my room also started throwing noisy late night parties. They are asian with huge extended families. They play loud karaoke on their backyard porch and all scream together.

Sometimes I just want to launch a rocket through somebody's window.

You should sue civilly. There are civil nuisance laws / statutes. That kind of thing really peeves me off.

But I know the feeling... when I bought my condo I had a forest behind me. I was like "finally quiet" silly me. Off to the side is a home the back yard fronts to the forest. What do they do every Saturday night... BIG bonyard fire with all their drunk friends.

I called the fire department once to ask and apparently they have a "fire ring" which is legal, but I think, horribly unsafe next to a forest. But I just have to deal with their Saturday night parties.

Had similar problems with my previous house. Solved them by moving :/

Hey there LonelySutton. Nope, unfortunately, no "outsiders" are allowed on the condo's board members. The board members are pretty much some kind of attorney or of the former residents of the condo said that one of the five members was a former police captain. LOL!

Heck, I don't even know the names of the board members, as the property manager (the girl who manages the property, not the loser ghetto maintenance manager who wanted to assault me) won't even tell me or my parents the names of the board members.

On the other hand, still terrible people. There were people moving into one of the units yesterday. They parked their truck in front of our house, preventing us from getting into our driveway. Then somebody moved the truck to let us in, and then they simply parked back at the same spot in front of our house, and parked there for almost 45 minutes.

More trouble began at around 12:50AM last night when I was sleeping, and those new tenants of the condo unit very nearest to my house, was moving in, turned on their vacuum cleaner, were chatting very loud, their dogs were barking too. It seemed like either the ghetto maintenance manager or other jerk residents "coached" these new residents to make noise to deprive my family of our sleep.

Anyhow, I ended up calling the police because we also have a tenant living downstairs, and I was afraid that he would lose his sleep with these noisy newcomers. Police arrived within 15 minutes and told those newcomers to keep the noise down. :)

Dang, I feel bad for your living condition, Lei.

That sounds kind of like the house my folks and I used to live at. The next door idiots in my previous neighborhood would have other guys from the neighbor get together starting at 6 or 7PM, talk stories, and drink a lot of beer from that time to around 2AM. They would do this on Tuesday nights, deliberately do this because we have called the police on them many times in the past. Not just the guy next door, but his son would also have his five or eight friends congregate, talk story until 3 of 4AM, smoke wee or cigarette, because they know that my mother has asthma, and is allergic to cigarette or any kind of smoke.

Called police on them too. But unlike the older guys, and the idiot boy's dad, the idiot boy and his buddies would turn off the light, run away when the police arrived, police checks, nobody is around, and leaves. After the police leaves their property, they would congregate, turn on the light, start talking loud again, and start lighting up their cigarettes and chugging down their beer. Punks. Thank God I no longer live there in that crappy neighborhood.

You also said that the rear neighbor has a brother who is a police officer? Such corruption at its best.

I hate it when these troublemakers have relatives or kins who are police, and the local police department don't do anything, because of their "buddy buddy" network.

Like what Sutton said, you should look into suing those jerk neighbors for noise disturbance, and even psychological distress if they deprive you of sleep.
