    Ventilator syndrome....

Thanks Tiina63, as I had suspected, I do think my mum lacks empathy sometimes. Hmmmmm food for thought that. It's no wonder the way I feel I do sometimes! (not that i'm blaming her entirely) but I think I will sit back and think about some of the things she says in future.. thanks for the input :-)

What are you thinking right now?

I'm thinking about doing some online gaming, what are the best sorts of online games to join which don't cost a fortune and which aren't too difficult to pick up? Might be a distraction for me

In one word. Post your current mood.

Pensive - pretty much the norm for me nowadays!

    When was the last time..

The last time I met someone at an airport was last year when I went on holiday. I met some relatives who picked me up to take me to their apartment. When was the last time you were able to get your big toe into your mouth?

What do you like about yourself?

I think I have a good sense of humour, and can see the funny side of most things.

What are you feeling, hoping, thinking, or remembering right now?

I'm hoping I can be happy on my own, sort out the stresses in my life, and have some more realistic aims and goals to work towards. I'm feeling a bit miserable, but posting on here and hoping I can one day learn to take my own advice I'm thinking that I should really go and do the washing up...

    Depression Is When...

Depression is when you are sent as a paramedic to stop someone from throwing themselves off a bridge into a river to die, you feel like holding their hand and jumping right in there with them!

    Advantages To Being Anxious?

I think it's a balance. Some stress is useful to help motivate us, but too much of it can be overwhelming and soul destroying. If you're going through a bad period of anxiety I think the best thing is to recognise it for what it is and try and cope with it. I'm on anti anxiety meds now as my...

How to stop comparing yourself to others.

Don't stop telling people on the internet how you really feel, if we can't post on here or talk to each other, then what else is left!! You're right that those people may have not been through the same problems as you, but it's all relative. What if THEY HAVE been through the same or worse as...

    What now?

Doc I hope you're okay now. Prove to those people that they were WRONG about you. You're just going through a hard time and are feeling very depressed. When you're depressed you don't have clarity of thought! Don't be hard on yourself, congratulate yourself for any small achievement that you...

How to stop comparing yourself to others.

I've posted something similar to this with my Ventilator syndrome post.. I'm a bit confused now. If someone says to you 'Thank yourself lucky, you could've had it much worse', does that mean that they are invalidating stuff you say when you tell them you're feeling a bit down?

    Ventilator syndrome....

Just wanted to share something which has been drummed into my head about trying to remember that there are some people who are far worse off than you when you're feeling a bit low. It makes me laugh because my mother is always going on about how I could be far worse off than I am now, living in...

Fake it until you Make it?

Thanks Katerina, I guess what you're saying is about finding a balance - being a better version of yourself but not overdoing it so you come across as an overconfident jerk! I do find these CBT techniques just a bit cringeworthy though - I think i'm a confident person but i'm aware of my...

    Body confidence issues

I could change my disfigurement if I had surgery, which I might consider in the future if I have any spare cash. Until then i'll just have to learn to live with it I guess! At least i'm fortunate that no one gets to see me with my clothes off! ;-)

Proactive searching for love is NOT desperate!

I agree that there are some people who just won't find a partner. I don't think there's anything wrong with proactively looking if that's what you want and you can cope with rejection along the way. I hate the cliches too, I find them quite insulting. There are many people who got married...
