Hi everyone! first time poster here. I am a 25 years old male from Pakistan. Currently I am sickened by my job. Allow me to elaborate.
Here in Pakistan, we do not have any labor laws so you are for the most part at the mercy of your employer, hence, people normally have to work gruesome hours everyday and things like work-life balance, over-time payments, and vacations are almost unheard of. I am in a similar situation. My boss expects me to do work that only a very experienced person in my field can do and me being relatively new, can't do those jobs adequately, therefore I have to (am forced) to do long shifts at work, almost as long as 18-19 hours daily - including sundays and saturdays, in order to ensure that I can complete the assigned work. However, being a novice at this, I still make mistakes and my boss gets all angry at me and puts me under more pressure everyday. As of late, I am extremely burned out due to this, and I feel more stressful, weaker and feeble everyday. I can't even bath or cut my nails properly as there is always a deadline to meet, phone is always ringings, always an incoming email.
To make it even worse, I and all my colleagues are being paid only $80 a month (even lower than national minimum wage). And mind you this is a job that requires professional qualification such as CPA to practice.
The trouble is, I had a verbal commitment with my boss that if I leave this job before 1.5 years, He/they will not provide me with an experience letter. And now I'm no the verge of breaking psychically and mentally and sometimes I just wanna leave without saying a word when I am constantly being put under pressure, and they can't stop me from leaving, but I wont get any experience letter, and I won't have anything to prove to other employers that I have worked here for almost a year.
I am in huge dilemma as to what to do, whether to keep taking abuse and keep being mentally and physically tortured or to just call it quits without an experience certificate.
P.S here in Pakistan, you can't complain to any authority regarding this due to them being inordinately corrupt and incompetent; the legal system of this country is also in shambles as you would expect. So I am own my own.
Please guide me.
Thanks for the long read.
