Hi guys, I've been going through a spout of bad luck. My friend that I was going to go to the movies with got grounded and another got kicked out of the house for going to night clubs(I know right?). I feel like life hates me in every way. I wonder if any of you guys have or are going through this, just tell me your stories. I would like to read them.

Bad luck....hmmm. I don't want to bore you with the details, so here's the short version:

Abused as a child. Homeless by 16. I married the girl of my dreams when I was 18, but she died just a few years later. I have social anxiety, depression and possibly PTSD.

Does life hate me? Nope. honeysuckle happens. You gotta play the cards you're dealt, make the most out of a bad situation, lemonade with lemons....I could go on, because if I didn't believe all of those things that many regard as platitudes, I'd be dead.

EDIT: I feel weird writing all of that now, sorry. Wasn't trying to make you feel bad. I was just trying to say that you shouldn't hate life or think life hates you, good things are bound to happen too. I'm just in a bad mood, I shouldn't take it out on you. :)

Your friend was grounded? And you think life hates you? I'll skip over my problems and let you know what's happened to my friends:

My best friend at 14 died of cystic fibrosis.

My next best friend at 16 was homeless and was forced to move away, I haven't seen him since.

My next best friend at 17 tried to kill himself, I was the one who found him.

For some reason I seem to find it hard to develop close relationships with people since then. Does life hate me? No. Life couldn't give a honeysuckle either way, sometimes bad people win and good people get messed. That's life.

Sounds to me like you have quite a bit of luck.

I dont see any bad luck in your story to be honest. What i personally call bad luck happens to a person I know. Whenever there is an exam, something happens to him. Whenever there is a quarrel, he finds himself in the middle of it even if he is innocent. His life is completely distorted by bad luck. He never gets to enjoy anything without its turning against him.

I remember that. I'm sorry if Locke or I came across as a little short but you're really not that unlucky in the grand scheme of things. I know that doesn't necessarily make it easier but you should find comfort in the fact that many people have gone through worse and survived to tell the tale. You need to try to look at the positives in life, focus on what makes you happy and try to get your depression to a point whre it is at least manageable.

I hope you can find a way to sort it out though, and we'll still be here to help for even the little things.
