I don't even know what to say to her. She's on Facebook and the reason I'm still single. I tell myself that maybe one day we'll meet each other but that's unlikely. Should I take a chance and break the silence? We were childhood friends so we're not complete strangers.

Go ahead and message her. Say you'd thought of her lately and were interested in catching up sometime.
If she doesn't reply or gives a lackluster response, then you know you can go ahead and look for something elsewhere.
