I decide to go freelancing because the office environment (of any company) was tressing me to the point that I wanted to jump over a bridge.
I actually started doing some occasional freelance job before, which was enough since I also had a full time job. But now as I'll go full freelance, it's not enough. I'm far from an awesome artist, but I have seen others with the skills of a teenager who just joins an art class, make many sales per day. I also saw people who has the skill of an art director, struggles with 1-2 sales per month, and those weren't even big project.
So I guess it's all about marketing. But I never did marketing before. I posted my service on some freelance website and people just hired me. I know social media like facebook groups, forums...are great for these but I don't know my target audience. That sound silly, but it's true. If I sell formal clothing I'll search for business people, if I sell sexy clothing I'll search for young girls. But I sell drawings and I can't narrow down the people who'll need my service.
Posting on drawing groups doesn't work, most people there are artists already.
I currently focus on making illustrations for children books because that seems to sell more. So the only target I could think of is writers. But I also don't think many sellers would need the drawing service.
Any idea for this marketing plan?
