This is an old poem I wrote back in high school. Thought I'd share it.

A Yearning for the Touch

Lifeless, alone, and deep within the darkness of the world
Everywhere around me is the same as everything inside me
All around there’s no life, except in the distance your strings of light reach me
Virtuous and pure was what you were, the very mark of your presence
Erased the void inside me, as your light filled it with the warmth of your soul

Miles away you once were, but now so close, I can almost
Embrace the star that is you with my own arms

All this time, I thought the world was nothing but darkness, but your
Light gave me hope; the world of darkness can’t exist without light
One touch however, one branding touch from your hands drove me away
Numbing, burning, and agonizing pain separated us and with that, I returned to
Eternal darkness; lifeless, alone, and holding a string of your light in my hand
