I found this article which some of you may find useful. I realize it's kind of late to make arrangements for Thanksgiving but maybe you could keep it in mind for Christmas, next Thanksgiving, Black Mass or whatever it is you all celebrate.
It's pretty basic, but sometimes that's all you need to get things rolling.
Of particular note is the bit about volunteering to help a soup kitchen or a service such as Meals on Wheels. The few times I was able to do it in my area, they could never get enough people. (Yes, the selfish ******* has been a volunteer.)
Anyway, it's a good way to meet people.
