I'm going to try to make this make sense as well as possible.

For the past couple of years and lately I've been very confused about what life is about. I want to believe that it's about achieving happiness and all that nice stuff. I want to believe that you find it within yourself first. But what I noticed around me is that the way people achieve this is very different to what I've been taught.

Growing up I'm sure everyone is told that if you work and study hard in school you'll achieve a lot once you finish. Though sometimes you sacrifice things along the way like chasing love, things like that.

What I have seen from many of my immigrant parents, relatives, and my friend's parents (keep in mind they are all hispanic) is that they all mostly decided to skip school, get married and have kids. They all work less than ideal jobs in warehouses, some are going around painting houses or fixing roofs. They may have trouble paying things but together as married couples they manage.

And yet they tell me to stay in school and not waste time. I'm always uncertain about what to do once I'm done and it makes me worry a lot but they appear to have such simple lives. What gives? Maybe I just need a girlfriend but currently I'm emotionally unstable.

Do these three things in life and you will reduce your chances of living in poverty by a factor of 38.

1. Get married and stay married.
2. Go to college and get at least an associate's degree.
3. Wait to have kids until #1 and #2 are completed.

Voila! That's called THE FAMILY, Folks and it's an institution people are turning their backs on in record numbers.

We deserve what we get.

Financial stress is the number one cause of divorce. While some cultures have strong strictures against divorce, honestly, one of the best things that one can do for family is to have a good standing of stability - which includes the financial aspects. How would you feel about not being able to provide for your wife or children? Or seeing others outshine them because you can't pay for college, etc?

financial stress is not a leading cause of divorce

lack of commitment and lack of honor are the leading cause of divorce

there has always been financial stress

i know many married couples who lived through the Great Depression on beans and rice and never divorced

were they not stressed financially?

fresia that bullshit

it's a failing of character, not the economy

this is the problem

no one realizes that the so-called "issues" are not the issues at all

WE are the issues

WE are messed up

WE are doomed

and you can either laugh or cry, cuz you sure as fresia can't do a **** thing about it

rest assured, i'll go out laughing my ******* ass off

man drops apple

apple hits ground

the cause of the apple hitting the ground was the fact that it was dropped

financial stress happens

people CHOOSE to react to it with divorce

the cause of the divorce was not the financial stress

the cause was the choice to divorce

there you go, scienceboy

Still doesn't make it any less important as a factor, and thus, a factor to consider when trying to avoid divorce. Also it is something that I think can be reduced or avoided with proper planning.

This is what has worked for me, which helped me to change my life direction: If you can, go travel. Alone. Preferably in another country. Or if you can't, explore areas of your town or city, new hobbies, new habits. Get out of your comfort zone. Get lost - somehow something will be found. I know it sounds cliche, but if you're walking around in new spaces with different maps, you're forced to think more creatively. Life is a creative act, and it sounds like you fear you're stuck. So get moving. :)

My own personal situation or options.....

I can simply move back to thailand and never have to work another day
for the rest of my life. My family have property and rental realestates.
Live the easy life with money to burn. It's always been an option for
Renae and I. It aint rocket science to collect rent moola.lol
Reane and I had lived through a bounch of honeysuckle as individual and as a couple.lol

Or I can stay in the USA. I choose to stay in the USA becuase our children
lives in the USA. Kimi has money to burn. She makes more money than
an average person or a mad scientiest. She definitely dosnt live in accordance
to what society thinks. She traveled the world and live a very luxgurious life
style. Not your average girl..but she's our girl. We love her very much.
She made herself and gotten where she is becuase she made it happen.

I also know and have friends from well off finacial backgrounds.
One of my friends owns a trailor park with around 100 rental units.
He's basically a millionair. Spoil brats we are...collecting rent is a hell of
a chior for him sometimes. He's love life is currently in the pits.lol

A couple of other friends bascailly comes from very wealthy family...
Very spoil,..both cant hold a job nor wish to...Why??
They both live a very comfortiable life as far as fincial concerns.
As far as thier perosnal love life or family life...They all have challanges.

I also know a couple of friends with less than college educations.
They both came poor family....However they both are bussiness owners.
They both are millionairs. Both got sick and tired of working for other people.
The American Dream...They made it happened.
Family or love life ??? They both lived through a bounch of honeysuckle like everyone else.

From someone who /actually/ has a family with rental properties, that's just so hilarious to hear.

lol

Studying hard and doing well in school doesn't guarantee anyone anything in life. I honestly wouldn't mind working in a warehouse or a small shop somewhere. And I'd rather have a nice little job than to have all these degrees that I'd never use.

Poor basturds...lol
Save the hot air for your GF (blow up doll)...dude.

Its good to recognize yourself; after all, we can't count so much from you when your brain isn't functioning correctly. The great part about it, too, is that it is so obvious.

Common sense tells people not to listen to your logic.

You dont get and you'll never get it....
You're all back up. Taking out your fustrations and anger on
me aint ganna fix you....
Putting others down trying to make yourself feel better.
You have poor self esteem....

Errr...I have to go now.
Renae wants to have sex with me and Im wasting my time with your ass...
I get it....

Back to the OP or subject...

I lived in Ca. near the boarder of Mexico. Plently of latinos with various econamic back grounds and educations.
I also had an opportunity to work in Mexico for 3-4 months. Plenty of people with various econamics back
grounds. Plenty of BMW or fancy cars roaing the city. Plenty of develope nieghborhoods as in any typical
USA city.

I also lived in various cities in Ca....such as SD.
There's various people, various nighbourhoods.
Its not all pretty and it's not all ugly.

It's basically the same in Thailand. The nighbourhood I grew up in is fulley delevoped with 5 story
buildings, colleges and shopping malls, now.

The econamic conditions within the past 5 years probably forced a lot of people
to work for less pay. Plenty of people with a college education and student loans cant
find work or are force to work for less paying jobs.

I currently live in a small laid back beach town in TX.
It's not as developed. It isnt ment to be developed.
It's paradize for some people. Away from the rat race.
No shopping malls. No colleges. No 3 story buildings or higher.
Various races from various eduction econamic backgrounds.
Predominately White...but they're just people.
Some are still ignorant...but most people are laid back and easy going.
