I was kind of unsure how posting a recording of me singing would be received, but I think after browsing the threads I feel a tiny bit more confident than I did to begin with. I hope I won't get boo'd off the stage, so to speak.

Anyway, I um... There's a song I used to sing to my baby sister like a lullaby when she was itty bitty. It was called "Wendy" before Ben Kweller put it on his latest album as "The Ballad of Wendy Baker". I liked the original version better because it was more intimate at the time... The only recording I had of him singing it was from him over the radio and he played it solo in acoustic guitar. I'll type up the lyrics as well.

Fair warning: I umm... I'm kind of tone deaf. Listen at your own risk.

Lyrics:

I feel sick today
I don't feel like me
Someone took your smile away
Like a fortune cookie
And no one loves 'til it's gone.
I'm the one who likes change
But I feel taken by surprise
Let me rewind the things I said
That made it rain inside your eyes
And I keep missing you
My heart knows it's through
Heard about our friend Wendy
Drunkin' accident
I can't wait to be happy
And go to a place where she just went
And I keep missing you
My heart knows it's through
Don't wake up, I'm here
To keep you from the storm
I'll soak up your fear
And keep your body warm
And I keep missing you
My heart knows it's through
Nothing to hold on to
But my heart knows it's through.
