Now rather than heated debates, which i think are a good thing so people can see both sides of the story. I want to know how people are against legalizing it. As in Brothels.

Lets assume it was government run. The women could work there on their own will, because lets face it some women don't care because of the amount of money it makes them. They wouldn't have to fear the "Pimp" They would have access to medical needs etc. I think it's a safe option for these women. Instead it's illegal and run by drug lords who get these women addicted. I mean Prostitution was around even before Roman times. It was considered the norm. I say give them the option of choice.

Well I worked as a receptionist at an escort agency and I can tell you that some girls did it because they had a bad drug addiction and needed the cash to feed their daily habit these girls were addicted long before they became prostitutes.. Drugs were never supplied nor were they allowed on the premises.

No it wasn't run by drug lords you might be thinking about the more unsavoury aspects that comes with pimps for girls who work on the streets.

Some girls worked because they needed the money it's pure and simple.

there are escorts in the states. theyre part of bars and parties, with escorts as a tip for alone time. the escort has the right to accept or deny any situation and stop at any time. we have several where i live, three businesses that i know of. google says i have like seven.

whores deal with a lot of unhealthy emotions. depressed clients, abusive clients, etc. then the sex... and ive seen them post on sites like these. a lot of them go back into the business, due to loneliness of not being the center of someones attention. theyre also sex addicts. so they struggle when they quit sex. mainly though. they can make a lot of money in an hour or two of work. seems like most of them are introverts or have anxiety, supported by a drug addiction. they struggle with emotions, but, i do believe they prefer the work that they do. if they could control the emotions they may quit. but with anxiety, drug addiction, hyper sexual, and probably PTSD from the clients, i doubt many of them could work a 9 - 5 for minimum wage. takes a lot of work and time to quit that kind of life. when they make three times more then a full days work at minimum wage, in an hour... a lot of them go back into the life for the money.

to much could go wrong with a government run program. maybe some new laws but i believe it should remain on the edge of supported and hated. not everyone agrees with it.

I'm on the fence about prostitution. For right now, I think if it's going to be illegal then the focus needs to be on pimps, and to a lesser degree the johns. Arresting prostitutes is pointless.

I'm open to the idea of legalizing, just not sure how it would work. I was not impressed with the system set up in Nevada. It looked more like glorified pimping to me. I don't know enough about the system in other countries to really have an opinion there.

I think itd be much better if it were actually regulated by the government. I mean its going to be there whether or not we want it to be. Right now its very unsafe because its unregulated. I think it should be legalized just to protect the prostitutes more and lessen the spread of stds.

Abortion will be there whether or not it is illegal or not. That's why I support it being legal, rather than women using coat hangers to perform it on themselves.

Prostitution is equally dangerous because its unregulated.

I say regulate it.

National governments are well known for their excillent ability to regulate and control. The United States economy and Canada's health care system are some fine examples:D.

Seriously though, I honestly dont see how having government controlled prostitution will make things much better. Pimps will be in operation regardless for those guys who "literally" dont want to be screwed through the government. Prostitutes will still be making private deals and will still live a 'questionable' lifestyle outside of the governments protection.

On top of that I dont want my tax money being used to buy condoms with the U.S seal printed on them.
