Darkness

In a world some people call home,
where darkness ravages the light,
in an unending struggle over mankind,
where wrong is confused with right.

The obscurity blocks all luminosity,
from entering the unending, black sky.
And the shadows of twilight engulf the earth
and remains as time goes by.

But then in a bold stand,
the light gives its luminescence strong,
and from far and wide it could be seen,
and right became clear from wrong.

But that illustrious sight was brief,
for the darkness had once again surpassed
and reigned supreme over what is good,
and that the righteous would not last.

Now at this moment in time,
you ask yourself this question:
When will the light be free
to create it's own revelation?

That is a question
that is only answered by one,
to be unknown to man
until our world is done.

Awakening

On a cold, windy night,
The night that that we all know.
The night that can make the largest of prides fall.
The night of darkness and despair.

Amongst the wind-swept plains,
Along the rolling hills,
Across the dark horizon,
My mind wanders to places unknown.

I lay here in the tall grass,
The ground around me illuminated by the soft moonlight.
And as I stare up at the heavens above,
I wonder "What went wrong?"

I close my eyes and think,
Think on all the experience,
Reflect on the memories,
And regain control of my untamed thoughts.

I open my eyes once more,
To take in the immersive beauty of the moon,
For which we all take for granted,
And I smile at the future to come.

I stand up once more,
Not just as a calmed soul,
But as a warrior,
Ready to take whatever challenge that comes his way.

I look up one last time,
To remember what has been done here,
Then I turn forward,
Towards a road, for which there is no end in sight.

And as I walk along,
I stand tall and firm,
Knowing that fortune is on my side.
The struggles now remain in the plains, never to return again.

Moonlight

As I lay in the soft grass
On a lone, starry night

As the moon is rising
While shooting stars decorate the heavens

I look at the sky
And remember my past

That past becomes a blur
as everything rushes to my head

The soothing light of the moon now covers the earth around me
as it continues its ascent in the sky

And through the calm of the night peace
A war is raging between opposing emotions and memories

Fighting on the borders of life and death
On whether to live, or die

Time comes and goes in reality
like daybreak and nightfall

I shut my eyes and smile
to calm myself under the moonlit black sky.
