The BBC has done a new survey on social classes in the UK and has decided people now fit into seven social classes.

The different classes are elite, established middle class, technical middle class, new affluent workers, traditional working class, emergent service workers and precariat.

Did the survey and I'm emergent service worker - young, financial insecure but enjoy a cultured social life.

I suspect most will fit into this but do the little test and see where you belong.

I'll go with precariat too. Sounds cool.

Precariats from all countries, unite!

It's hardly an in depth range of questions. I don't want to be categorised after 6 questions or thereabouts. Farcical. However, I am a precariat. :)

I got emergent service worker or precariat depending on how I massaged my figures...

WHY IS THERE NO ROYALTY ON THAT SURVEY

What do you expect from the BBC? ;)

I did this earlier today. Proud member of the precariat class here.

Tend to mix socially with people like themselves
Come from a working class background
Rent their home - over 80%

I don't mix socially with anyone except my middle class fiancé (also a precariat) and I come from a middle class background (my parents told me they came out as members of the elite), but I do indeed rent my home!

But I think we're all equal. Especially on the internet.

I'm not British. But for the fun of it!

I fall under New affluent workers.
This class group is sociable, has lots of cultural interests and is in the middle of all the class groups in terms of wealth. According to the Great British Class Survey results, lots of people in this group:

Are young
Come from a working class background
Own their own home

Haha. Okay. Right.

Gosh Pogs, all this time you've been misleading us with the implication you've got no class at all....

It's the biggest pile of old bollocks I've seen in quite some time, but I came out as an emergent service worker.
