Someone on another forum has a head shot of Honey Sempai (from the anime Ouran Host Club) as their avatar, and I wub that avatar to death every time I see it. I had never actually seen the show but was thinking about finding it online. Then I heard that that particular anime is basically Japanese cartoon soft gay porn and am not sure what the implications of liking a character from it. Any comments?

Um, no, no it does not.

First, you aren't watching the porn, you just like a character.

Second, even if you did watch the porn, that doesn't mean you're gay. I've watched both gay and lesbian porn (among others), and I completely like and want men.

I think you're just reading too much into it. If you think you might be gay, it's most likely not because you like someone from a hentai show before you knew it was hentai.

After I read your reply I actually dug out a series of youtube clips featuring that character and my whole reaction to him is "cute little kid!" I also didn't see any evidence of porn in the clips, just a kind of cartoon Macaulay Culkin. So I'm quite a bit reassured.

Ouran isnt pornographic /at all/ its a romantic comedy. the guys are shirtless sometimes [beach, pool] and theres a sort of 'runnimg gag' of the twins acting like theyre...more than twins, but its all just for laughs.
not to mention the romantic focus is on one of the guys and a /girl/ so its not yaoi [maleXmale romance]
i highly recommend it. its hilarious and anyone can sympathize with the lead.

I've had a chance to talk to an anime afficionado about that show and she tells me Honey is supposed to be high school age, but in the clips I saw he acts like he's about six years old. Plus many of the other characters I saw are considerably taller than him.

I might or might not watch it because I'm put off by the scene in which Honey single-handedly beats the crap out of a battalion of armed and armored soldiers, even though he has no weapon. I don't like that level of comic book violence.

If you're not feeling sexual or romantic attraction to someone of the same gender, chances are you are not gay. Sometimes guys just think things are cute.
